Yesterday, D Shift crews from Engine and Truck 18 in Randallstown responded to an unusual call after a fawn became trapped in a storm drain.

The little deer wasn't interested in coming to rescuers on its own, but after some patience, creativity, and a little teamwork, Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Nickoles was able to safely reach in and free the fawn.

With its mother watching from a distance, the young deer was placed back on solid ground. Moments later, mom and baby took off together so quickly that crews didn't even have time to get a photo.

Just another reminder that not every rescue involves people - and we're happy this one had a great ending!

No hydrants? No problem. 🚒💦

This morning, more than 75 career and volunteer members participated in a six-hour rural water supply drill in the Cockeysville area, led by the Baltimore County Volunteer Water Resource Committee.

The training combined classroom instruction with hands-on evolutions focused on the core skills needed to supply water to structure fires in areas not served by fire hydrants.

During the practical portion, crews worked on drafting, water shuttle operations, and other methods used to establish a reliable water supply from sources such as ponds, streams, and underground tanks.

Training like this helps ensure our personnel remain prepared to meet the unique challenges of protecting our communities - no matter where an incident occurs.

Bring Stop the Bleed Training to Your Group! 🩸

Our fire personnel welcome the opportunity to visit schools and community groups to teach participants vital lifesaving skills. Attendees will learn how to recognize life-threatening bleeding, apply proper wound care techniques, and confidently use tourniquets and pressure dressings.

Programs can be tailored to fit your audience and age group, ensuring everyone gains the hands-on skills they need to respond in an emergency.

We look forward to partnering with you to create a safer, more prepared Baltimore County!

Today, members of the United States Army Civil Affairs visited Headquarters to review key operational areas and exchange best practices related to disaster preparedness and response. Baltimore County was selected for its operational relevance, strong interagency coordination capabilities, and proximity to Fort Bragg.

During the visit, the team engaged with our personnel on topics including disaster response preparedness, HAZMAT and Urban Search & Rescue operations, interagency communications, community risk reduction, marine fire rescue, and EMS/Mass Casualty Incident management.

We appreciate the opportunity to share knowledge and strengthen partnerships that support effective emergency response operations!
