Today a new group of reserve firefighter candidates participated in the arduous pack test, one of the physical tests required to become an reserve firefighter. Candidates had to walk three miles in 45 minutes or less while wearing a 45 lb. weighted vest. If successful, they will move forward in the process leading up to attending the reserve firefighter academy this summer. Are you interested in becoming a reserve firefighter? Today we had the distinct pleasure of teaming up with OCSD to support a great cause, Heroes and Helpers. This charitable event allowed children to shop for Christmas gifts accompanied by Police Officers and Firefighters. It was great to meet members of the community we serve while working along side our partners in law enforcement. Happy Holidays!

Last week, Captain Danny Goodwin was presented the Firefighter of the Year Award by VFW post 6024 in Saddleback Valley.

β€œIn special recognition and highest praise for alertness, personal courage and ever vigilant guardianship of life and property.”

The award was presented to Captain Goodwin at Station 56 where he was assigned to the truck. He is currently assigned to Division 7 as the Administrative Captain.
