Please pray the family. Travis, Brooklyn and Cohen are family to us here at TCFD. Monteagle isn’t just our neighboring department they are family and over the past few years the bind has grown stronger with training together and working as one on scenes and you wouldn’t be able to tell which person belonged on which department as we work as a team together. To the family we offer our deepest condolences and are always here. We love you all. Blaise left this world way sooner than expected but rest in heaven playing with fire trucks 260 and a half.

TCFD went and supported GCHS Cheerleaders at the bake sale and car wash. We had to take a truck to get washed and of course a donation to support the team was made for the great job they done. Proud to support Grundy and our community anyway we can if we can.

Chief Chris Fiske, Assistant Chief Michael Strang and Captain Jacob Church attended the State Fire Marshal’s VFEAT luncheon yesterday for receiving $64,500 for a new cascade system. With this new system we will be able to refill air bottles in house and neighboring departments can also fill bottles after mutual aid calls or if they just need to fill bottles in general. Grants like these help us get better equipment to better serve the communities and do our job safely. We had the honor of eating lunch and hearing from the commissioner and assistant commissioner of commerce and insurance as well as a few state senators and was a great opportunity to see how respected the fire service is in this state.

We had the Girl Scouts Troop #40428 stop by for a visit Tuesday evening for a tour of the trucks and station. They brought cookies and they really liked spraying water with the booster reel at the end.

Mark your calendars 🗓️ Burn permits are not required in Tennessee from May 16 through October 14.

Every year, the Tennessee Division of Forestry requires free burn permits from October 15 through May 15. Why those dates? That window is Tennessee's wildfire season, when drier conditions, fallen leaves and lower humidity make it easier for a small backyard fire to escape and turn into something much bigger.

Permits help us track outdoor burning during the riskiest months and keep our forests and neighborhoods safer, while also communicating with the public (that's you!) about when and where it is safe enough to burn at any given time.

Once we move into late spring, summer and early fall, greener vegetation and higher humidity reduce the fire risk... which is why permits aren't required during that stretch.

A few things to keep in mind before you strike a match:

🔥 Some cities and counties have their own burning rules year-round. Always check with your local government before lighting it up.
🔥 Never leave a fire unattended and always have water or tools nearby to control it.
🔥 Watch the wind. Even on a "safe" day, gusts can carry embers farther than you'd think.

Burn permit season may be ending, but fire safety doesn't take a break. Stay smart and stay safe out there, Tennessee! 🌲

Would like to thank Enbridge for accepting our grant for a technology upgrade to our fire department. They approved us $7,500 to purchased 8 much needed laptops for training online as well as some other computer hardware to upgrade our existing equipment. Thank you Enbridge for the grant and allowing us to be able to train better to better serve our community.
