Yesterday around 3pm TCFD was requested to aid Foster Falls Volunteer Fire Department with a search and rescue at Foster Falls park. We responded with 5 members and met with Foster Falls and other agencies at the park to get a game plan. Agencies on this call were:
• Park Rangers
• Foster Falls Volunteer Fire
• Marion County Rescue
• Tracy City Fire Rescue
• Coalmont Cave & Cliff Rescue
• Sewanee Fire Rescue
• Puckett EMS

After a lengthy hike into the trail system, the injured male subject was located. Due to the terrain and the nature of the injury, the patient was packaged for extraction and hoisted approximately 60 feet up a rock ledge to the bluff to allow for a safer and faster removal from the park.

The patient was then transported by Marion County Rescue via Tahoe back to the parking area where Puckett EMS was standing by for further medical evaluation and transport.

All units cleared the scene and returned to service at approximately 9:30 PM after several hours of coordinated rescue operations. Having a good bond and training with neighboring departments is why situations like this have really good outcomes and makes our teams act as one unit. Very proud of the agencies and members working together and providing safe care for the patient.

- Charge your devices.
- Ensure you have enough food and water.

- Plan where you'll go if your home becomes too cold to stay in.

As most of the roadways are getting icy and some possible flooding from all the rain and will soon be ice. Please stay home unless absolutely necessary as the roads are getting bad out. If you need assistance call dispatch and let them know if you have an emergency or call the non emergency number if it’s not. Please stay off the roads all you can and be safe if you travel.
