Hey all, please take some time tomorrow morning to get some delicious biscuits & gravy or breakfast burritos. Indiana always puts on an amazing breakfast and all proceeds go to purchasing new equipment.

All while helping us replace essential equipment (because, unfortunately, duct tape is not NFPA approved… we checked).

Training Summary:
During the month of February, members conducted training focused on hose operations. This included hose pulls, hose deployments, nozzle selection, and pumping operations to improve efficiency and coordination during fireground operations.

Members also attended EMS Continuing Education (CEU) training hosted in Bussey to maintain and improve EMS certification and patient care knowledge.

Today, we recognized the consistent dedication and effort by our crew throughout the year. Being a Firefighter and EMT present significant challenges, particularly given the sacrifices made by our spouses, children, and grandchildren to enable our service to the community. These occasions provide an opportunity for us to gather as a family, share experiences, and reconnect. This commitment underscores our purpose in serving both our families and the community.

Its been a busy Saturday here at CTFD. First of all we would like to give a big thank you to Lely in Pella, IA for entrusting us with a controlled burn of their Iowa native wildland grass surrounding their manufacturing facility. 🔥🚒 This training helps keep our Firefighters up to speed and safe on how to handle real life wildland fires. 👨‍🚒🧯

Our second thank you would be to Pella Fire Department for allowing us to do this controlled burn in their jurisdiction and sending 2 of their finest to assist with this burn. 🙏👍

Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) Training

Members in Attendance: 5

Training Summary:
During the month of January, five members participated in Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) training. The training focused on firefighter rescue operations during working fire incidents. Members practiced team-based RIT deployment procedures and reinforced firefighter self-survival techniques to improve operational readiness and safety on the fireground.

With current conditions across Iowa, fires can spread fast, get out of control quickly, and turn into a very long day for you — and an even longer day for your local fire departments.

That small brush pile?
That “quick little” ditch burn?
That “it’ll be fine” moment?

It won’t be fine.

Let’s keep our fields, ditches, equipment, and firefighters safe. We promise your burn pile will still be there when conditions improve.
