My favorite part of todays car show? My youngest son Devin connecting with a car owner from West Des Moines. This made Devin’s day. It was also the first time this car owner made the drive to Traer. I hope we see him back next year. He said the show seemed a little light but he enjoyed the time in Traer. It’s all about our kids and our community.

Brought this up when I ran for office in 2021. I see it’s not improving. This has to be changed quick folks. We need to say as a community it’s time for this to be addressed before it’s too late. It’s sink or swim time for a lot of small towns. Is it time to finally fix this? I’d say it is. Our current Mayor said and I quote, “Our town has grown under my time as mayor.” Where did that growth occur? Don’t see it, do you?

Beautiful turn out at the car show today. Had a blast getting down on 2nd Street and seeing some great cars and great people today. Little less turnout compared to years past but this is a change in schedule for the show. Our chamber did an amazing job and everyone should show them some love by saying thank you. Our businesses are amazing in this community and they do a great job on networking and getting events out to the community. We need more stability on rental housing and development in our community. Our community could grow so much if it had leadership that focused on growth. What attracted me to this community almost 8 years ago? Affordable real estate and a great school. Sadly folks are leaving our town. Businesses are struggling to staff. When will everyone decide the decline is enough? It’s time for someone to lead us forward and not accept the norm. We can do so many great things together as a community. When is it time…

I find it ironic. Some of your current elected council members blasted me for being so active on Facebook. They said you can’t govern from Facebook and I should have been present at the meeting when I ran for mayor. That’s funny I don’t go to meetings that don’t accomplish the same thing for years on end. Same agenda same want to get it done but they don’t. Y’all have been trying to get the same things done and haven’t. Maybe good leadership could have helped. Or maybe new council members would get the job done?

Just wanted to take a moment on this 4th of July to say happy Independence Day to everyone. While our streets in town are lined with our nation’s beautiful flag we are missing something. As I went to our local grocery store this evening I noticed our town is missing out on this amazing day. Our Main Street was empty as others around us were packed. We should be celebrating our countries freedom today as a community and lining our Main Street. While we didn’t celebrate as a community this 4th I hope you each had time with your loved ones to embrace our amazing country.

A special thank you to the men and women who preserve our freedom while serving our country. We are forever grateful for your service and we should be celebrating your sacrifices on this day.

Thank you to our neighbors to the east in Dysart for putting on an amazing day today. From the beautiful parade to the amazing fireworks we appreciate it.

God bless the USA and God bless each and everyone of you 🇺🇸🇺🇸.

PSA. Continue to stay weather aware everyone. According to this projection we should be expecting it between 6-7 this evening. I’ve heard the storms themselves will be moving 80-90 mph so across a county in 20-25 minutes. We should get another warning when it’s closer but we’ve had ample from our amazing weather services and county services.

As always be ready to help your neighbors out if they need it. Stay safe and God bless.

Grand Island, NE reported an 85 mph wind gust at 2:11 PM. This is coming and coming fast. Estimated timing across Iowa today. REMAIN WEATHER READY!

From my family to yours please keep an eye on tomorrows weather. I was asked by a great supporter and friend to help spread this message. Be ready to assist your neighbors should the need arise. I pray with this kind of notice we are all prepared and Iowa ready for what I hope is the last severe weather event of 2021.

I’ll pray tonight we are watched over tomorrow.

Have a great night everyone.

[OUTDATED POST]

It's been pretty well advertised at this point, but it is going to be 🌬️VERY WINDY🌬️ tomorrow.

Please use caution if traveling on east/west oriented roads tomorrow, especially if you are driving a high profile vehicle (semi, bus, etc...).

How are them changes coming for everyone? Taxes still high? No new housing?

Supporters good Wednesday morning to all of you. First I want to say I was up last night until after midnight and we got the results last night. I was in contact with some of my closest supporters and visited with them prior to calling it a night.

Unfortunately this morning we did not wake up as mayor elect of Traer. While it is not the results desired it is the results accepted as I love democracy and everyone had an opportunity to vote and they did, if they didn’t well that’s part of democracy as well.

We laid it out. Laid out our plan to grow, stabilize a declining population, and work to fix property taxes that are making folks want to leave our community. Even though the election was lost these issues do not have to be. That is the power of democracy.

Be at the meetings. Write letters to the elected officials. Send them emails. Be sure they are working for the community by being diligent and asking questions.

I want to thank everyone who stood with me and wanted things to change. Change is hard. Accepting someone is even harder. Qualifications didn’t win but the norm did.

Again thank you your support means a lot to me.
