It is with heavy hearts that the Trafalgar Fire Department mourns the passing of Bud Walker.

In 1953, Bud had the vision and determination to help establish the Trafalgar Fire Department, becoming a founding charter member and serving as the TFD’s first ever Fire Chief. His leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment laid the foundation for the department that has proudly served our community for generations.

What began as Bud’s vision more than 70 years ago has grown into a department committed to protecting and serving the citizens of Trafalgar. His legacy lives on in every firefighter who answers the call and every life touched by the department he helped create.

We are forever grateful for the countless hours he devoted to our community and for the example of service, leadership, and selflessness that he set for all of us.

Please join us in keeping the Walker family and all who knew and loved Bud in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Thank you, Chief Walker, for your vision, your service, and the lasting legacy you leave behind. We will proudly continue the mission you began in 1953.

Rest easy, Chief. We’ll take it from here.

Just before 11pm last night the TFD house sounded for the reported residence on fire in the far northeast portion of TFD’s 1st due district.

LD21 marked on location of a single story residence with a basement with nothing showing. Investigations revealed there was active fire on the backside of the residence in an outside wall that extended into the basement of the structure.

Fire was marked working, the working companies were held.

Engine62 stretched a 1.75” line into the basement with near zero visibility throughout the structure. Fire was located in the basement in the portion of the wall that extended above the ground and into the ceiling of the basement that extended upstairs into the closet of the master bedroom.

Two lines were stretched and in operation. Crews operated for just under two hours before returning to service. No injuries reported. Fire ruled accidental.

This marks the second working fire in the TFD’s district this month.
