Good morning Trail Creek! Not much different from our report yesterday morning. Current temperature as od 5:45am is 3⁰ with light snow falling. Wind chills are around -4⁰. Roads are snow packed and slick. I think we may have mentioned that roads salts become ineffective at these temps. Leave early if you must leave at all. Many worship services are offered online or on the radio. Maybe today would be a good day to take advantage of those services. If you must leave, limit exposed skin as frostbite sets in quickly.

I can't stress enough the importance of keeping an eye on your neighbors. We are out here and ready to help when and where needed. If you do not feel comfortable calling 911, the non-emergency number is 219-879-6700. When in doubt, 911 is best.

Hopefully everyone keeps their fur babies protected from these brutal conditions. If you're cold, you can bet they are too. Do not leave them outside unattended or for long periods of time. Damage is fast and can be permanent.

Have a great Sunday!!

Good morning Trail Creek! Not a much better picture at 6:00am than yesterday at this time. Current temperature is -2⁰ with with chills near-13⁰ and very light snow in the air. I'm seeing we are forecasted to reach 10⁰ today with no snow until after 9:00pm. Roads are snow covered and can be slick. Just take your time. Remember road salts become (fill in the blank - answer later!) _____________ at these temperatures.

Keep an eye on your neighbors and call the dispatch center at 219-879-6700 or 911 if you believe they may need our assistance. Do not hesitate to make that call. You are not an inconvenience in our day when you call.

Don't forget to be mindful of your little furry ones. These temps take hold fast on their little bodies and can do damage quite rapidly.

Now the answer.....road salts become INEFFECTIVE at these temperatures.

Have a great Saturday!!

Good morning Trail Creek!! As of 6:15am the temperature is zero, with wind chills ranging from -9 to -14. There is snow in the air, and on the roads. Be sure to cover up and dress in layers. Minimize skin exposure to these brutal conditions. Be careful while driving, leave early if you must leave at all. Our street department will be out shortly to address the road conditions, but please keep in mind that at these temperatures road salts become ineffective.

Keep an eye on your neighbors and call us if you feel something may be wrong. The non-emergency number is 219-879-6700, or 911.

Last but certainly of equal importance, keep an eye on your fur babies. It does not take long for their little paws, and the rest of them, to freeze in these conditions. Do not leave them outside unattended or for extended periods of time.

Have a great weekend!!

Good morning!! Temperature as of 5:45am is 3⁰ with no wind. Unlike yesterday at this time, no snow which is a plus! Be careful on the roads as they can be slick. Otherwise, if you drive slow they are easily manageable. Remember, road salts become ineffective at these temperatures.

Don't forget to keep an eye on your neighbors, and do not leave your fur babies outside for extended periods. It doesn’t take long for this cold air to cut through their fur.

If you need us, 911 or the non-emergency number of 219-879-6700.

Good morning Trail Creek!! Conditions at 5:45am: Temperature is 10⁰ with wind chills just below 0!! Light snow in the air with blowing snow. Roads are snow covered and slick in spots. Our street department will be out soon to spread some salt. Remember, road salt becomes ineffective as temperatures drop. Warm your car up and leave early enough so you are able to take your time.

Keep an eye on your elderly neighbors. If something appears unusual or you suspect they may need assistance, call the dispatch center at 219-879-6700, or if an emergency, dial 911.

Lastly, if you're cold while outside, it's highly probable your fur babies are cold. Do not leave them outside too long or unattended.

Have a safe Monday!!!

Good morning Mr. and Mrs. Trail Creek! At 6:00am it's calm and the temperature is 25⁰, no snow the air. The street department was out late last night with an initial attack on the streets, and will be back first thing this morning with a follow up attack.

The road conditions vary from wet to snow on top of ice. They are passable, simply use caution. The first snow of the year always sees an increase in traffic crashes. Please be considerate of plow drivers who are out making the roads safer for all of us. Do not crowd them, stay clear, and be courteous.

We are here if you need us!! Have a great week!!
