What an incredible day for our community and our environment.

As Chair of the Trainer Environmental Advisory Council, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who participated in the 1st Annual NMS Day Roadside Litter Cleanup.

Volunteers came together along Township Line Road to remove litter and debris that could otherwise make its way into Marcus Hook Creek, impacting the health of our local watershed. Through teamwork and a shared commitment to environmental stewardship, we made a meaningful difference.

A special thank you to:
• Naaman's Marcus Hook Stoney Creek (NMS) Watershed Alliance
• Delaware County Office of Sustainability
• Clean Air Council for providing bagels, donuts and coffee
• Keep Delco Beautiful
• Lower Chichester Township Environmental Advisory Council
• The residents, volunteers, and community members who generously gave their time and energy

I would also like to recognize the Trainer Borough Public Works Department for their ongoing efforts to keep our community clean, safe, and well-maintained throughout the year.

Today’s success demonstrates what can be accomplished when organizations, municipalities, and residents work together toward a common goal. It was inspiring to see our community come together to protect our waterways and preserve the beauty of our region.

Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this effort. We look forward to continuing this important work and building even stronger partnerships throughout our watershed communities.

🚨 PAUL MILLER’S LAW IS NOW IN EFFECT 🚨

Beginning today, Pennsylvania’s hands-free driving law, known as Paul Miller’s Law, is fully in effect.

Under this law, drivers may not hold or use a handheld mobile device while operating a motor vehicle, including while stopped in traffic, at a red light, or at a stop sign.

❌ Holding a phone while driving
❌ Texting or typing
❌ Reading or sending emails
❌ Browsing the internet or social media
❌ Using apps
❌ Taking photos or videos

✅ Hands-free devices and Bluetooth are permitted
✅ Voice commands are permitted
✅ A single tap to activate a hands-free function is permitted

⚠️ EXCEPTIONS:
• Emergency communications with law enforcement or emergency services to prevent injury to persons or property
• Use after safely pulling off the roadway and stopping your vehicle

Paul Miller’s Law is a PRIMARY OFFENSE, meaning an officer may stop a vehicle solely for a violation of this law.

Violations are subject to escalating penalties:

• 1st Offense (on or after June 5, 2026): $50 fine, plus court costs and fees
• 2nd Offense (within 3 years): $100 fine, plus court costs and fees
• 3rd and Subsequent Offenses (within 3 years): $150 fine, plus court costs and fees

Distracted driving puts everyone at risk. Keep your eyes on the road, your hands on the wheel, and your focus on driving.

🚑 Aston Ambulance Authority Community Outreach Division, in partnership with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), is proud to present a FREE Community Safety Event focused on building a stronger, safer community.

Join us for a morning of life-saving education and hands-on safety training including:

✅ Car Seat Safety Inspections
✅ Hands-Only CPR Training
✅ Stop the Bleed Training
✅ Community Safety Education

We also will have representatives from the DELCO Regional EMS Office. Emergency Community Narcan Kits will be available courtesy of the Delco Health Dept.

Community Cleanup Day – Volunteers Needed!

The Naamans, Marcus Hook, Stoney Creek Watershed Alliance, along with community partners including the Delaware County Office of Sustainability and Keep Delco Beautiful, will host the 1st Annual NMS Day Roadside Litter Cleanup on Saturday, June 13th from 9:00–11:00 AM along Township Line Road near Trainer Borough, Lower Chichester, and Upper Chichester.

This bipartisan community effort focuses on:
▪️ Protecting local waterways and Marcus Hook Creek
▪️ Reducing roadside litter and environmental impacts
▪️ Encouraging civic pride and volunteerism
▪️ Bringing residents, organizations, and local leaders together for positive community action

All necessary cleanup supplies will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to park at the Trainer Municipal Building.

Registration is strongly encouraged to help organizers:
▪️ Prepare enough cleanup supplies and safety materials
▪️ Organize volunteer teams and cleanup assignments efficiently
▪️ Identify areas needing the most attention
▪️ Ensure a safe and productive event for all participants

Community members are encouraged to participate as we work together to keep our community clean, healthy, and welcoming.
