The past two days members of our department have spent time at Pierce Mfg Bradenton Florida Manufacturing Facility conducting the final inspection of Tanker 35. This new tanker will be our primary tanker out of Station 1 and our current tanker will be relocated to Station 2. This will now puts an engine and tanker at both Station 1 & 2.

Tanker 35 is a 2026 Freightliner SD114. This truck carries 3000 gallons of water, Waterous 1250GPM pump, and firefighting equipment.

We would first like to thank our community for supporting our department to add the needed equipment to continue to serve our community with the needed equipment to provide the highest level of service.

Next we would like to thank our board, officers, truck committee, and members for the time that was put into planning and seeing this truck through. As this truck will serve the Traphill community for many years to come!

Finally a huge thanks to Chris Grace and Atlantic Emergency Solutions for working to help us build a truck that will serve our area for many years to come. The hard work this company puts into making sure the customer gets exactly what they want means so much! Chris has served our department and worked with us for many years and we couldn’t be more thankful for the friendship that has been built!

We look forward to seeing this in Traphill soon!

Prepare & Prevent with National Wildfire Awareness Month! With warmer temperatures and dry conditions, now is the time to stay prepared and fire aware. Outdoor burning, campfires, grills, equipment sparks, and even discarded ci******es can quickly lead to dangerous wildfires.

Help protect your community by:
🔥 Checking local burn restrictions before burning
🌲 Keeping yards clear of dry brush and debris
🚫 Never leaving fires unattended
🚬 Properly disposing of smoking materials
🚒 Reporting wildfires immediately

One small spark can quickly become a major wildfire. Follow NC OSFM for more fire prevention tips!

As today is the beginning of EMS week we want to take this time to thank Wilkes County EMS for all they do to provide the highest level of prehospital care. These men and women go above and beyond for the citizens and those who travel within Wilkes County 24/7/365.

As with any type of public service the days are long and the end maybe rough but these folks stick with it and hang right in there. Some may take alternate paths and go other directions but these fine folks stand strong and continue to carry out the work of the county no matter what comes there way, because someone must answer the call and the men and women of Wilkes EMS continue to do just that.

From all of us at Traphill Fire Department we appreciate you and the working relationship to provide the highest level of care to our citizens and those who visit each day!

Press Release

Traphill Fire Department and the NC Forestry Service were dispatched to the area of the 300 block of Mountain Valley Drive at approximately 12:30 on Friday May 15th for a reported grass fire. This fire was reported by someone flying a drone. Members responded with the first arriving member on the scene at approximately 12:42 advising a working fire involving 2 acres near a barn. At that time Austin Vol. Fire & Rescue was requested with a tanker and then State Road Volunteer Fire Department with a brush truck. Units extinguished the fire and hot spots throughout the area. This is just a reminder that it is illegal to burn trash! We appreciate our automatic aid parters and all our volunteers who responded. No buildings were damaged during this incident.
