School is back in session so lets keep our kids safe this school year! 🚌🛑

When a school bus stops, children are nearby. Knowing the law protects young lives and keeps your record clean.

Here is a quick refresher on school bus lights:

🟡 Yellow Lights Flashing: The bus is preparing to stop. Slow down and get ready to brake. Do not speed up to pass!

đź”´ Red Lights & Stop Arm Out: Children are getting on or off. You MUST STOP immediately.

The Golden Rules: Both directions must stop on two-lane and undivided roads.

Only traffic going the same direction as the bus stops on divided highways with a physical concrete or grass barrier.

Put down the phone. Distracted driving costs lives.

Passing a stopped school bus is dangerous and illegal. Let’s work together to make sure every student arrives safely! 👋

🚨 Trappe Borough Alert: Spotted Lanternflies are at Peak Activity!

Attention residents: This time of season, lantern flies have transitioned into full adults. They are highly active, jumping, flying, and clumping together on local trees. This makes them easy to spot and even easier to target! If you see a spotted lanternfly in your yard or around town, please kill it on sight.

Why We Need Your Help Right Now: They are a destructive menace. These invasive pests from Asia feed heavily on valuable crops, grapevines, and native trees.

They create a mess: As they feed on plant sap, they excrete a sticky residue called "honeydew." This waste breeds a harmful black sooty mold that ruins local plants and damages outdoor furniture, patios, and cars.

Stop the next generation: Mating begins in late August. Squishing them right now reduces local populations and stops them from laying thousands of overwintering eggs around our community.

Check your vehicles before traveling to ensure you aren’t accidentally carrying these hitchhikers to other areas!

Reminder: Dog Leash and Waste Regulations
The Borough of Trappe reminds all residents that dogs must be properly restrained on a leash whenever they are off the owner's private property. This mandate strictly includes all public borough parks. Pets are not permitted to run at large or roam free under any circumstances. Additionally, owners are legally required to clean up and properly dispose of all pet waste. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our public spaces safe and enjoyable for everyone.
