☀️ Summer Safety Starts With You! ☀️

As temperatures rise and families spend more time outdoors, the North Greenville Fire Department encourages everyone to make safety a priority this summer. A few simple precautions can help prevent emergencies and keep you and your loved ones safe.

🔥 Summer Safety Reminders:
• Stay hydrated and take frequent breaks if you’re working or playing outside.
• Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.
• Keep grills at least 10 feet away from your home, deck, or other combustible materials.
• Practice water safety by supervising children at all times and wearing life jackets when appropriate.
• Leave fireworks to the professionals and attend a local public fireworks display whenever possible.

🚨 Don’t Forget to Check Your Smoke Detectors!
Working smoke detectors save lives.
• Test your smoke alarms once a month by pressing the test button.
• Replace batteries when needed or when the low-battery chirp sounds.
• Replace smoke detectors every 10 years.
• Make sure your home has smoke alarms on every level, inside each bedroom, and outside sleeping areas.
• Create and practice a home fire escape plan with your family.

A few minutes spent checking your smoke detectors today could save a life tomorrow.

The North Greenville Fire Department would like to congratulate Firefighter Kaleb Green on his hard work and dedication in successfully completing his probationary requirements and earning the title of Firefighter I (FF1).

As part of this milestone, FF Green proudly received his firefighter shield and had the honor of passing down his probationary (“probie”) shield to the next probationary firefighter.

Congratulations, Kaleb! We are proud of your accomplishment and look forward to your continued service to our department and community.

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day from North Greenville Fire Department! 🇺🇸

As we celebrate the birth of our nation this Fourth of July, North Greenville Fire Department wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday with family and friends.

Whether you’re traveling to a cookout, watching fireworks, or spending time on the lake, please remember to make safety your top priority:
🚒 Drive safely and never drive impaired.
🎆 Leave fireworks to the professionals whenever possible and keep a safe distance from displays.
🔥 Keep grills and outdoor cooking areas away from homes, decks, and dry vegetation.
👀 Always supervise children around fireworks and open flames.
🚑 In an emergency, don’t hesitate to call 911.

Before heading home after your celebration, make a plan for a sober ride. Buckle up, put distractions away, obey the speed limit, and watch for pedestrians, cyclists, and emergency responders. A few extra minutes can save a life.

This week, North Greenville Fire Department participated in multi-department training focused on water shuttle operations and relay pumping. These methods are used where fire hydrants are not readily available, access is limited by long or narrow driveways, or in the event of a failure within the municipal water system.

We would like to thank Berea Fire Department for hosting such a great training, and would like to thank our automatic aid departments which include Duncan Chapel Fire District, City of Travelers Rest Fire Department, and Greenville City Fire Department. Great work to all involved!

Happy Father’s Day to all the awesome dads!

Over the past week North Greenville Fire Department participated in a 3-day auto extraction training to better our response capabilities during complex motor vehicle incidents.

The training focused on assessing, stabilization, and lifting large vehicles to safely gain access to passenger vehicles and patients. Personnel had the opportunity to work on two key areas:

•Hydraulic rescue systems

•Professional wrecker services

The hands-on scenarios provided meaningful learning experiences that improved the knowledge and skills essential for delivering safe and effective service to our community.

On behalf of NGFD and other Departments that participated would like to give a HUGE THANKS to Hawkins Towing, Inc. for their support providing us with area to train, vehicles, and much more!

Other departments that participated include Berea, City of Travelers Rest Fire Department, Duncan Chapel Fire District, Piedmont Park Fire District, and Greenville City Fire Department.
