Grand Traverse County Animal Control This page is dedicated to helping lost dogs found by GTCAC Officers reconnect with their owners and to help dogs find loving homes through adoption.

The Grand Traverse County Health Department's (GTCHD) Animal Control Division offers our community services such as dog adoptions, reuniting dogs with their owners, animal welfare checks, kennel inspections, picking up stray dogs, and dog licensing. Our officers also collaborate with area rescues, fosters, and the Cherryland Humane Society to find dogs their forever home.

Sometimes the sweetest dogs just need someone to show them what they’ve been missing. ❤️

Lolo is a 3-year-old neutered male Corgi mix who came from a difficult situation where he lived with a large number of other dogs. Since then, Lolo has been enjoying life in a foster home, where he’s learning all the things he didn’t get the chance to learn before. And he’s making great progress!

🎾 Lolo LOVES to play fetch!
🥾 He’s learning how much fun it is to go hiking on leash.
🐱 He has lived with a cat, but he will need continued training and supervision to help him learn appropriate behavior around cats.
🔊 Loud noises and big loud dogs can make Lolo nervous, so he’ll do best with a patient family that understands he may need a little time to feel comfortable.

Lolo is a pint-sized pup at only 24lbs with a big personality and so much potential. He’s looking for someone willing to continue building his confidence, teaching him new things, and showing him, how great life can be. ❤️

Lolo does have a medical issue that will be discussed in more detail with prospective adopters so his future family can fully understand his needs.

Meet Sage! 🐾💚

Sage is a 7-month-old neutered male Heeler/Shepherd mix who is ready to leave his difficult past behind and start the life he deserves.

Sage came from a challenging situation where he was born into a home with many dogs living in unsanitary conditions. Because of that, he is getting a bit of a late start on some of life's basics—but don't let that fool you. Sage has a very friendly, loving demeanor and all the potential in the world to succeed with the right family!

He is good with other dogs and has been fostered with older children. Sage is currently learning to walk on a leash, working on basic obedience, and beginning to understand a housebreaking routine with his foster family. He will need continued training, patience, and consistency as he grows into the wonderful dog we know he can be. Sage currently weighs 39lbs and isn't expected to get much bigger.

Sage also has a seizure disorder that is currently well controlled with medication. His medication has been inexpensive, and he is doing well.

This sweet boy didn't get the easiest start in life, but he hasn't let that take away his happy, friendly spirit. ❤️ Sage is looking for someone willing to give him the guidance, patience, and love he missed out on early in life.

Sage will be accepting appointments to meet him starting Monday 8/24 as he was just neutered yesterday and needs some downtime to heal. His adoption fee is $100. He is UTD on all his vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped.

Molly is a 3-year-old spayed Pit Bull mix with a heart as big as her goofy personality. She absolutely loves people and is always happy to make a new friend. Whether it's playtime, cuddle time, or simply hanging out by your side, Molly is all in.

Like any young, active dog, Molly has the occasional "SQUIRREL!" moment and can get distracted by exciting things around her. She's looking for a family that's willing to help her polish her manners with some basic obedience training.
