ROAD WORK UPDATE | Week of Aug. 31

The Grand Traverse County Road Commission has released its road work schedule for the week of August 31. All work is weather permitting.

ROAD CLOSURES

Hammond Road — Closed to through traffic between Townline Road and west of Three Mile Road in East Bay Township. Access to adjacent businesses and properties will be maintained.

Work is expected between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Detour: Garfield Road → South Airport Road → Three Mile Road → Hammond Road

LANE SHIFTS

Three Mile Road — Just south of Hammond Road to Napoleon Way. Crews will continue work on the Safe Routes to School Project in East Bay Township.

Drivers are advised to continue using the posted detours and to plan ahead for delays.

Please slow down and use caution in work zones.

Hammond Road, between Townline Road and Three Mile Road (East Bay Township)
*Hammond Road, between Townline and west of Three Mile, will be CLOSED to through traffic. Access to adjacent businesses and properties will be maintained.
*Work should take place between 7:00AM and 7:00PM.
*Please plan ahead, be patient and expect delays.
*Slow down where workers are present.
*Detour: Garfield Road to South Airport Road to 3 Mile Road to Hammond Road

LANE SHIFTS

Three Mile Road, just south of Hammond Road to Napolean Way: Safe Routes to School Project (East Bay Township)
*Crews will continue working on the Safe Routes to School Project.
*Work will take place between 7:00AM and 7:00PM. It is advised to still use the detours.
*Please plan ahead, be patient and expect delays.

Franke Road Construction Project, US31 to Silver Lake Road (Garfield Township)
*Crews will continue working on this project.
*Work should take place between 7:00AM and 7:00PM.
*Franke Road will be closed to through traffic.
*Please plan ahead, be patient and expect delays.

BRINE
*Brining of gravel roads will continue throughout the beginning of the week.
*Contractor will continue moving Northeast.
*Various gravel roads in the county.
*Please slow down and use caution.

ROAD COMMISSION CREW ACTIVITIES
*Pothole Patching, Grading/Blading Gravel Roads – Various Locations.
*Ditching – Southern portion of the County
*Sign Repair - Various Locations.
*Sweeping – Various Locations.
*Mowing Operations – Various Locations.

Work continues on East Bay Township’s Safe Routes to School project, with sidewalk improvements now taking shape around the East Bay Branch Library.

These improvements will help create safer, more connected routes for students, families and the community.

Visit the market today 2-6pm on Thursdays! Traffic is now open North, South, and East from the intersection, but is closed westbound to Townline Road still.

Come on down today to the East Bay Corners Farmers Market from 2-6pm on Thursdays!
We have free totes for those who bring a friend and/or share a social post and tag us. Fill it up with your goodies from local vendors!

A new roof is now in place at the East Bay Branch Library, an important improvement for a building that has served the community for generations.🩵 Thanks to East Bay Township Facilities & Recreation Coordinator Nathan Burns, Falcon Roofing, and Grand Traverse Construction for their work on the project. A thank you to TSI Electric who performed the electrical hookup for the mini-split and made electrical improvements to the building.

Next up: A new HVAC system by Sheren, followed by potential window replacements and exterior painting next spring.

With these improvements, the historic building is being prepared to serve the community for another 100+ years. 💯

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember.❤️

Please join the Grand Traverse Metro Emergency Services Authority for its annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Friday, September 11, from 8:30–9:00 a.m.

Location: GT 9/11 Memorial Park, 897 Parsons Road, Traverse City.

The ceremony will honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and recognize the courage and sacrifice of those who responded. All are welcome.
