Friday Facts: So last Friday we talked about the 1924 Model T. Pictured below are the tanks and “pump panel”. This pumper was chemical powered. Water was put in the tank along with a chemical agent. When the two were combined it would build pressure inside the tank which would allow the hoses to be “charged” with water for extinguishment. Advancements in pumping have come a long way since then.

Friday facts: In 1924 the Fire Station was located at 134 S Sampson and that building was an old poultry house. Then it was relocated to the 100 block of W Madison. In 1941 it moved yet again to 214 S Sampson. Then in 1963 after becoming a Fire Protection District a new (permanent) station was built at 300 S Sampson. In 1992 the south addition was added. It sure looks different today than way back then. (Below: Architecture drawing of the proposed 1963 build, Station prior to 1992, 1992 expansion construction, Current Station)
