SAR team went to Camp Wildwood in Metamora yesterday for a mock search & rescue exercise hosted by Woodford County EMA Search and Rescue. This was a multi-agency training and a great opportunity for us to meet up with SAR teams from other counties to practice, learn, and improve our knowledge and skills together.

Thanks to everyone who planned and organized this exercise, those who came out to train, the "lost person" actors, and to Woodford County EMA Search and Rescue for hosting!

SAR team welcomed a couple new members at training last night with an intro to compasses🧭 and an overview of CalTopo (a mobile app used to map search areas, track searchers, plan and navigate routes, log clues, etc.).📱 The whole team jumped in to help and got in some practice and learned a few things as well!

Our team spent the day yesterday at Lost Person Behavior training. We learned data-driven methods that can help determine the most likely places to look for people based on statistics collected from years of actual search incidents. The name of the class really says it all!

Big thanks to the trainers from LaSalle County Emergency Management Agency and to Woodford County EMA Search and Rescue and the Germantown Hills Fire Department for hosting, letting us use the fire station, and for feeding all of us lunch (that pulled pork was amazing 🐖)!

With help from the Fon du Lac Park District Police Department, we hosted shoreline rescue training yesterday at the Carl Spindler Marina in East Peoria. SAR teams from the surrounding counties plus members of the East Peoria Fire Department joined in.

Thanks to everyone who came out, and a special thanks to the officers who hung out in the water while we all practiced throwing them a line and towing them to shore. It was a great turnout, so they were in there awhile! 🛟👏

Big thanks to LaSalle County EMA for hosting Saturday's multi-county SARx!

SAR teams from LaSalle, McLean, Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford counties all came out for a day of shared learning, teamwork, and collaboration at Catlin Park in Ottawa. Trainings like this help strengthen the skills and build the cross-team relationships that matter most in a real-life situation.

Outstanding job by all!
