The Tazewell County Emergency Management Agency (TCEMA), Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and Small Business Administration (SBA) will be out in the community this morning speaking with residents who may have experienced flood damage from the recent storms. Representatives will be gathering information about the damage sustained throughout the community and collecting data to help assess the overall impact of the flooding. Please note that if you have already submitted your information through the QR code, your information has been recorded, and no further action is needed. For any questions, call Village Hall at (309) 925-5711 or email [email protected].

Tazewell County residents showed up in a big way in 2025, setting a new county e-waste collection record! Nearly 700 participants brought in more than 70,000 pounds of electronic waste for responsible recycling and disposal.

Overwhelming turnout meant that some residents who arrived hoping to participate were unfortunately turned away once capacity was reached. That didn't sit well with us.

Moving forward, to better serve residents and reduce wait times, participants can now choose from multiple event dates and locations. When registering, each household must select only one location/date option, and appointments cannot be scheduled for both events.

Our goal is simple: serve as many Tazewell County residents as possible while providing a safe and positive experience for everyone.

Registration Details: ✅ Appointment required with proof of Tazewell Co. residency ✅ Each household must choose one event date/location only (not both)✅ Limit of two monitors per household ✅ Space remains limited, and registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. If you were one of the residents who couldn't be accommodated last year, or if you're ready to recycle e-waste now, we encourage you to register early for the location most convenient for you.

Additionally, TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter will host a can drive during the e-waste collection. Residents are encouraged to bring any aluminum cans they would like to donate.

Storm & Flooding Impact Information

The Village of Tremont is asking residents and businesses who experienced damage or impacts from the recent storms and flooding to provide information that will help Tazewell County EMA assess the overall impact of the severe weather.

If your property was affected, please use the QR codes below to complete the appropriate Disaster Impact Form.

Your information will help the county document the extent of the damage and determine what assistance or resources may be available.

Thank you for helping us gather this important information. Please share this post with anyone in the community who may have been affected.

Please be advised that one of the Village’s wells is currently causing air to enter the water system, which may cause the water to appear cloudy or milky. This does not affect the safety or quality of the water. The water remains safe to drink and should clear after sitting for a short period of time.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Please note that, due to staffing, Village Hall will be closed from 12pm-1pm the remainder of this week. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

⚠️ West Nile Virus Detected in Tremont Mosquito Pool ⚠️

The Tazewell County Health Department has confirmed that a mosquito pool collected in Tremont on June 22 tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV).

While most people infected with WNV do not develop symptoms, some may experience fever, headache, body aches, or more serious illness. Adults age 60 and older are at the highest risk for severe complications.

Residents are encouraged to follow the "3 R's" of mosquito prevention:

✅ Reduce standing water around your property where mosquitoes breed.
✅ Repel mosquitoes by using insect repellent and limiting outdoor activity from dusk to dawn when possible.
✅ Report standing water that has remained for more than 7–10 days by emailing [email protected].

Although this positive mosquito pool was found in Tremont, mosquitoes can travel up to two miles, and West Nile Virus-carrying mosquitoes may be present anywhere in Tazewell County.

Please take precautions to protect yourself and your family this summer.
