❤️🖤🐻 A true servant leader (who does none of this for the recognition!) right here at AHB! Mr. Lee holds it down in the cafeteria in between meetings, paperwork, and observations - and he is always lending a hand to everyone of staff! You can see him here cutting up oranges & striking up conversations with our kiddos! We are so thankful for his leadership! ❤️🖤🐻

❤️🖤🐻 Two of our Red Wagon Recipients this month - Mrs. Michele Owens & Mrs. Kelsie Ferguson! Read a little more about each of their recognitions below:

“There are some people who simply make the world around them a little brighter, and Michele is absolutely one of those people. Michele is one of the most thoughtful people you could ever meet. She has a special way of making her coworkers feel seen, appreciated, and loved. Whether it’s a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, checking in when you need it most, or going completely above and beyond just to make someone’s day a little better—Michele always finds a way to show people that they matter. And then there’s her laugh! It is truly contagious. You can’t help but smile and laugh right along with her. Her joy fills the room and makes even the hardest days feel a little lighter. I’m so thankful to work alongside someone who pours so much kindness and love into the people around her. Michele, you are a gift to your coworkers, and we are so lucky to have you!”

“Mrs. Ferguson makes everyone around her better. Whether it's building the library, helping teachers with resources, troubleshooting tech issues or meeting a need at school. She does it all. She builds up students, teaches and guides them in all things library related. She is an amazing teammate and person on our staff and looks for the best in others. She's one of the best wagon pullers I know. I would even say she's a Star Polisher for students and staff. I'm so grateful for all she does and who she is.”

These two ladies have carried their weight plus some this month! We are excited to share some other Red Wagon Recipients later this week! ❤️🖤🐻

❤️🖤🐻 Our Star Polisher this month is Mrs. Molly Strawbridge!

“There are some people who quietly carry more than their share without ever asking for recognition, and Molly Strawbridge is one of those people.

Molly is truly one of the hardest-working people in our building. This year, she has taken on more than anyone else in 4th grade, and for that, we are incredibly thankful. She has been given more than her fair share of responsibilities, yet she never backs down, never complains, and never stops giving her very best.

What makes Molly so special is that she never does any of it for a reward or recognition. She doesn’t look for praise or expect anyone to notice the extra work she puts in. She simply sees what needs to be done and gets it done. And honestly, she deserves recognition more than anyone.

Molly is driven, dependable, selfless, and someone you can always count on. She continues to show up, work hard, and give her all—even when the workload feels like more than one person should have to carry.

Molly, please know that your hard work does not go unnoticed. We see you. We appreciate you. We are grateful for you. And 4th grade is so much better because you are in it!"

We are so proud of you Mrs. Strawbridge! ❤️🖤🐻

🍎🥞 Breakfast in the Bangert Cafe is a GREAT way to start the day! 🥛🍓

There’s something special about walking into our cafeteria in the morning and seeing our Bangert Bears enjoying a yummy breakfast, visiting with friends, and getting ready for a great day of learning! 🐻❤️

A BIG thank-you goes to our amazing cafeteria staff, who arrive early and work hard each morning to prepare and serve breakfast for our students. We are so grateful for the care they put into making sure our Bears have a nutritious meal to start their day!

We also want to recognize our custodial team, who work behind the scenes to keep our cafeteria clean, welcoming, and ready for our students each morning. Your work matters, and we appreciate you! 🧹✨

And, of course, we LOVE seeing our students take advantage of this opportunity! 💙

🍳 Breakfast is available to ALL students beginning at 7:30 a.m. Come join us, grab some breakfast, and start your school day with full tummies and ready-to-learn minds!

Good afternoon Bangert Families!

This is Dr. Alexis McKeel, Principal at Bangert Elementary School! Thank you for a fantastic first week of school! Mr. Lee and I are in awe of this community and the work that you all do to support us.

Please ensure you are connected to Classdojo if you are a Parent or Guardian of a Bangert Bear. This is where we communicate immediate updates such as delays to dismissals or changes in the schedule for the day. If you need assistance with this, please contact me at [email protected].

On Wednesday, September 2nd there is Blood Drive at First Baptist Church in New Bern in memory of Mrs. Catherine Alligood from 1:00-6:00.

On Friday, September 4th, our Charleston Wrap fundraiser information will be sent home with your student. Please help our PTA raise money for some classroom furniture for a few of our classrooms!

After a week of carpool drop off and pick up, we want to give you a few reminders:
-Students should not be dropped off by a parked car on Canterbury Rd/Devonshire Dr. If you are seen doing this, it will be addressed by our crossing guard, Mr. Cullipher or by Officer York. This is a huge safety concern for us. Please utilize the car line for all students being dropped off. I can assure you that it does move quicker as we continue moving through the school year.
-There is a sign out front that states no U-Turn in front of our school. Please adhere to this rule in order to prevent collisions and congestion.
-No students should be dropped off in the faculty lot unless there has been prior permission from administration with our Exceptional Children’s families and any of our medically fragile students. When more people do this, it creates congestion for folks leaving the carline.
-Please be reminded that if there is inclement weather such as a thunderstorm or lightning, carpool students, bus riders, walkers/bikers will not be released until it is safe to do so. This is for the safety of all of our students and staff. Additionally, inclement weather will delay the dismissal process. I appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.
-NEW FOR THIS YEAR: You must use the blue car tag from AH Bangert to pick up students in the carpool line. This is to ensure that the car tag did come from AHB. While Coach Swicegood and Mr. C do a wonderful job of knowing cars and families, this is a safety procedure we are putting in place in the event of their absence so that we know the car tag was obtained from AHB. This will begin being enforced on Monday, September 7th. If you do not have the blue car tag on your rearview mirror, Coach Swicegood and Mr. C will ask you to roll down your window and will have to do an ID check with the front office to ensure you are on the list to pick the child up. If your child is not normally a car rider but will be at some point this year, please email [email protected] with your child’s name and their homeroom teacher so she can get it sent home for you. The original blue car tag and one extra are automatically free. If you require more than 2 because you have a rotation of family members picking up your child, each additional car tag is $1.

Mr. Lee is actively monitoring students that are being added to bus routes and making contact with the families of those students. If you have any questions or concerns in regards to buses, please contact him at [email protected].

This is just a reminder that breakfast and lunch are free at AHB! Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria tomorrow at 7:30. Students should enter the building, go through the cafeteria line, eat their breakfast in the cafeteria, and then report to class. Please ask your child what their lunch number is and help us with the memorization process.

Looking ahead, there is no school on Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day! 3rd Grade Students will take their Beginning of Grade Test on Tuesday, September 8th. Please ensure that your child is on time to school and well rested for this test. You may begin eating lunch with your student on Monday, September 21st. Please see our reminders about lunch with families down below.

Our Bangert Bears Build Belonging, Engage in Learning, Accept Responsibility, Respect Everyone, and Strive for Excellence! We are so excited to live out our motto this year and cannot wait to watch how our students grow!

Thank you for your continued support of AH Bangert Elementary School! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
