New Jersey has been awarded nearly $850,000 through the State Trade Expansion Program (NJ STEP). Funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the STEP grant was intended to help eligible small and mid-sized businesses that are new to exporting expand into global markets.

Applications are now open on a first come, first served basis. With 13 consecutive years of federal funding, NJ STEP continues to help New Jersey businesses explore international opportunities, increase export sales and create and retain NJ jobs.

New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill, keynote speaker, highlighted NJBAC’s work as the state’s business advocate at the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s annual Feria de Negocios. NJ Department of State Deputy Chief of Staff Niurca Louis also shared from the podium about what NJBAC does for New Jersey’s business community and later joined NJBAC staff at its booth to meet and greet attendees.

Other dignitaries included SHCCNJ’s interim president John Lucas and Assemblywoman Tennille McCoy [D-14th District] also stopped by to explore new ways to collaborate and support entrepreneurs.

Thanks to all who visited, and a special nod to Dr. Melissa Baralt, a member of the SHCCNJ’s Board of Directors, for keeping the energy up throughout the day.

To celebrate her remarkable 50-year career, the NJBAC team, as well as colleagues from the Department of State and other state agencies, gathered for a retirement party honoring her public service, leadership, and lasting impact.
