Thank you to everyone who voted for me in this election. Was hoping it would be a little closer but the voters have spoken. Congratulations to Phillip Hartline!

The day is finally here, Election Day! I want to thank everyone who has voted for me in early voting and for the ones who are voting today! We can’t have progress in the county unless we vote for the ones who will do something and I will be that person. If you want to see this county move forward then I would be honored to have your vote!

Tomorrow on 5/10/22 I will be doing a live Q&A video for anyone who wants to come and ask me any questions about why I’m running, what I hope to accomplish if elected in and where I stand on certain issues. The live Q&A will begin at 4:30pm and last around an hour. I hope you can join me!

Early voting begins tomorrow! I ask when you go to the polls starting tomorrow, to vote for me! I love this community and want to see it thrive! If you want lower taxes, better living wage jobs and someone who will fight FOR its citizens and not against them, vote Patrick Hickey for County Commissioner!

Early voting starts Monday, have you decided who
you will be voting for? While there might be a lot of
things that my opponent and I agree on, there's
also things we don't see eye to eye on. One of
those things is zoning! Back in the 2018 debate Mr
Hartline stated that he was dead set against it,
especially when it came to residential property that
you pay taxes on. His stance on it has changed a lot
since then because now he wants zoning for
business and residential property. I believe that if
you pay taxes for your own property, you should be
able to decide what you can and cannot do on it
without the government having to control that
unless it's a safety hazard to yourself or others
around you. When you head to the ballot for early
voting or if you wait until May 24th to vote in the
primary election ask yourself, do you want
someone who will fight for you or do you want
someone who will fight against you and decide
what you can and cannot have on your own
property!

I will be stepping aside from campaigning for a little bit while my son recovers. He has 1st and 2nd degree burns he received from a house fire yesterday (Friday). Please keep him and my in laws in your prayers as they will have to rebuild.

Be looking for these throughout the county at your gas stations, grocery stores and many other places! If you want a commissioner who will work FOR you and use your money you pay in taxes for things that will benefit the county and move us forward, vote for me! It’s time we move forward as a county and bring in well paying jobs, have well paved roads and have a local government who works for every member of the community!

It’s a bit of a read but these are just a few things I hope to accomplish if I win on May 24th! A lot to do and I’m ready for it!

Communication is the key to have a thriving relationship between community members and local elected officials and it’s clear to see that there is still room to improve. Every member of the community should have have zero doubt that their representative is there to listen to their thoughts and concerns, no matter how small it is. Our current commissioners and county executive have come a long way in broadcasting the commission meetings but not everyone can attend the meetings or watch the live stream so one of the things I plan on doing is holding a town hall closer to the homes in the district I hope to represent which will give them a chance to hear what’s going on and have a chance to ask any questions they may have. One of the next things on my list is to make a promise and that is I will never vote for or endorse a raise in taxes of any kind, especially T-SPLOST. Extra funding is a great way to improve areas in the county but only if you use it for what it’s supposed to be used for or what your leaders say it’ll be used for. Every year during budget time you always see an increase in county office funding but hardly ever see a significant raise in the budget to fix roads that are not being taken care of until they’re dangerous to drive on so until the commissioners and executive can use the funding for its intended purpose I will not support a tax raise of any kind. Along with that I will be donating a portion of my income from the meetings. A portion of the money I get for the meetings monthly will be donated to a non-profit throughout Dade County every month. We have members in our county who need help getting by sometimes for a week or even just a day and supporting and funding these non-profits will help keep our community thriving! Another item I want to work on is finally getting a county wide animal service to serve our community day to day 24/7. This has been an item promised for years by county commissioners and executive but have been busy spending money elsewhere. This is something our county really needs and I want to get this item checked off the long list of stuff this county needs. Another item I want to work on is getting the veteran property tax break taken down from 100% disability to 60% disability which will give those veterans who are 60-100% disabled more money in their pocket because of the property tax break. These brave men and women have served our country with bravery and selfless acts to give us the freedom we have to this day. It’s a long list but there’s nothing on that list that can’t be accomplished if the local government and members of the community work together and can trust one another, no matter who you are because every single person in this county plays a part in making sure we move forward as a community, together.
