It's that time of year again... Time to file your applications for Homestead if you purchased or finished your home and currently live in it, before Dec. 31, 2025.
You'll have between Jan 1st and March 1st to apply (Please bring in your updated Florida Driver's license, Social Security #, Florida Vehicle registration, as well as your Gilchrist County Voter's Registration)
If you bought farm land in 2025, its time to get in your Ag Classifications Applications as well, please brings copies of leases if that applies to your case.

PROPOSED CHANGED TO FEMA FLOOD MAP IN SE GILCHRIST COUNTY!!

PSA: Anyone living within the Southeast portion of Gilchrist County, specifically east of Trenton and south of Tyler Grade (SE 76 Trail) & the area north of Tyler Grade (SE 76 Trail) & east of SE 70 Ave up to NE 8 Place, should take the time to go to www.SRWMDFloodReport.com/Virtual to view any changes that are being proposed to the FEMA Flood Risk Maps.

From what I understand time to make comments to the Suwannee River Water Management is coming to a close on October 1st!

Residents looking for information on the status of their property, and any proposed changes, can visit the virtual meeting room and follow the steps below to review possible changes to their property:

1. Visit www.SRWMDFloodReport.com/Virtual
2. Click on the Waccasassa Flood Risk Review Meeting icon
3. Select the GIS Data tab at the bottom of the page and then the Waccasassa FRR Viewer link
4. Users are able to enter their address in the top left corner of the website. Areas in red are new additions into a flood zone; areas in green have been removed from a flood zone. Areas in yellow represent no change.

The Gilchrist County Property Appraiser's Office will be closed on Friday (8-29-25) for some required maintenance to the Courthouse & closed on the following Monday (9-1-25) in observance of Labor Day.

Attention Gilchrist County taxpayers, TRIM notices will be hitting the mail today (08-22-2025). The TRIM notices are made available to show you what the Taxing Authorities are proposing as tax rates [millage rates], as well as assessment information for your property. The assessment information at the bottom of the form will show this year and last year's: Market, Assessed, Exemption & Taxable values. Exemption and Save Our Homes values will also be listed, if applicable.

The Property Appraiser's office asks that you review these notices and if you have any concerns or questions about the values that you contact us prior to September 16th. You may reach us at (352) 463-3190 or you can direct questions to the email: [email protected] (Chris Ruggles)

Please make note of the Public hearing dates for the proposed taxes and budget for each Taxing Authority as well.

Just a reminder to those who bought homes in 2024, the deadline to file for Homestead Exemption is approaching! Also if you purchased or were deeded Agricultural land, you'll also need to file.

Just a reminder to the taxpayers of Gilchrist County, if you bought and/or moved to a home in the County this past year, remember this is the time to file for your Homestead Exemption.

Likewise if you purchased agricultural land last year this is the time to file for that as well. Ag Classification does not continue with the property once it is sold and must be applied for.

Please come see us between Jan 1st and March 1st to apply.
