A tip of our hat goes to Sam Locke of Gibson County Utility District. As Vice Chair of the D&O Committee, he handled the emcee duties for the final day of D&O 2026. He did a great job, even though he would rather be behind the scenes. Now he and his committee have their work cut out for them to improve on this year’s conference for April 2027. I know they are up for the challenge!

When cold temps set in, utility bills will naturally be higher. Natural gas is not exempt from this fact. Heating your home when it is cold outside requires more gas than when temps are higher, that is just a fact of life. Therefore, your monthly bill will tend to be higher in the winter months.
Want to ease the sticker shock of a high winter heating bill? GCUD offers a budget pay program for our customers. Your bills will be averaged from the last 12 months and divided so you can pay the same payment every month.
Customers must sigh up for budget pay in the month of March. Customers also must have been a continuous customer for the previous 12 months in order to be eligible for budget pay.
Starting March 1st, call or stop in to sign up or get more information about the budget pay program.
