NJFOP is the voice of those who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving our communities by improving the working conditions and safety of law enforcement officers through education, legislation, community involvement, and employee representation. Federal, State, County, and Local members work side by side to improve the profession and serve the public. The FOP provides members with professi
onal legal defense, a powerful collective bargaining voice, advocacy for law enforcement legislation and seminars for personal and professional development. FOP members strongly believe in community involvement, and support organizations like Easter Seals, Special Olympics, and in New Jersey, the Deborah Heart & Lung Center. The FOP provides members with opportunities to meet fellow officers from across the state, and beyond, to encourage friendships and networking through its many services and activities. The FOP is a family that supports members through all phases of their careers. The National FOP, founded in 1915 has become the Nation’s largest law enforcement organization with more than 345,000 members and growing. New Jersey’s first local lodge, Camden FOP Lodge #1, was formed in 1947. The New Jersey State Lodge was formed in 1948, and currently ranks as the 7th largest State Lodge with more than 13,000 individual members. The FOP grew to become the preeminent police organization in the country by placing the utmost importance on these core principles:
-Education, training, legislation and representation of all law enforcement officers.
-Create a tradition of esprit de corps, ensuring fidelity to duty under all
conditions.
-Cultivate a spirit of fraternalism and mutual helpfulness among our members and the people we serve.
-Increase the efficiency of the police profession to firmly establish the confidence of the public in the service dedicated to the protection of life and property. The National FOP continues the traditions started back in 1915. The FOP is the #1 voice for Law Enforcement in Washington and around the country. We remain committed to improving the working conditions of Law Enforcement officers, addressing their concerns, and representing them proudly. The New Jersey State Lodge is committed to continuing this proud history of service to its members and the public, here in the great state of New Jersey.
