I was Humbled and Privileged to receive the ‘20 Years of Service’ pin at the Northeast Regional IABPFF conference today. I was told I was supposed to get it a couple years ago but do to the pandemic and not having a Regional Conference, it was delayed. I wasn’t worried. The Trenton African American Firefighters Association along with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Trenton Chapter teamed up for the Annual Breakfast with Santa for our Trenton students and their families. Students and families were cooked a breakfast meal (Pancakes, Sausage, & Eggs) from TAAFFA Members along with the Trenton Central High School Culinary Students and served with milk, orange juice and fruit served by the AKAs and Trenton High Jr ROTC members. Then the kids were greeted by Santa and were rewarded with many gifts 🎁. Thank You to The Trenton Housing Authority, Mayor Reed Gusciora, Police Director Steve Wilson and Fire Director Kenneth Douglas for participating with Us as well.

We want to congratulate Kinte Holt on his first day as Battalion Chief. Chief Holt is making history today by becoming the highest ranking African American to ever serve in our department. He first made history when he was hired 18 years ago and continues to leave his mark. Congratulations Chief. Keep up the great work.

Today was Truly a Monumental Day. The International Association of Black Professional Firefighters participated In our Memorial March in the streets of Hartford. Had a great Memorial service to honor our Past, Our Present, and PUSH forward for Our Future Endeavors in the Fire Service. Then we Touch-downed at the Capital & drew the most positive attention from the CT Government. We made the mark like our Members did in 1970. This Is Where It Started 🔥✊🏾🔥✊🏾🔥

Today the City of Trenton Honored our Trailblazer: Firefighter Linwood Collins. The City of Trenton Fire Dept 1st African American Firefighter. Glad to see his wife and daughter there to have a plaque placed on Station 1 in his honor. Great to see many of our retirees here today to show support for a great event.
