The ladies of Oceanaire Greenbriar are back for another Holiday to organize, sort and make memories for the children at Providence House Domestic Violence Services in Ocean County.

They created massive baskets using candy, toys and items from a town-wide Easter collection, run by frequent donors, Brian and Kristy Dowd. The children are going to be wide-eyed and giddy come Easter morning when they see these baskets filled to the top with peeps, bubbles, stuffed animals, crafts and more! What a happy piece of art created by Vivianna Onofrietti to earn her Girl Scout Gold Award to bring children in our program the gift of reading!

So much effort went into not only her craftsmanship and paintjob, but her collection of new books for a variety of ages! She has been so thoughtful to want to bring mental wellness to the children within our program through the joy of reading.

Being able to enjoy a good book might not come so easy for clients facing domestic violence, but with this project, the children here can leave with a book of their choice from a feel-good fun piece of furniture and have their day be just a bit brighter. Thank you Vivianna!

March is National Social Work Month. We would like to start this month with a salute to all of the social workers here at Catholic Charities. You can find them in every one of our service areas.

For children who have suffered abuse, people working to overcome behavioral health issues and substance use, domestic abuse survivors, and individuals with mental health crises -- our social workers provide care that is essential and, in many instances, lifesaving.

We appreciate your professionalism and dedication. Thank you all for all of the amazing work you do. And thank you for doing it here.

A mom who has been living with her newborn at HomeFront's Family Campus shelter for 6 months, had no place to go until she found us. She had been working at Amazon, but her life spiraled out of control after she got addicted to the opioids she was prescribed following a car accident. Her friend told her to try HomeFront, and while living here she has been a part of the For My Baby And Me addiction treatment program. "The way you're treated at HomeFront makes a world of difference." she says. "I wasn't treated like an addict, like a statistic, like I wasn't going to make it. I was treated like a person, with compassion." Today, she has been clean for six months, her baby girl is doing really well, and Miss. Rosie from our staff is working with mom to find their next living situation. "Watching [my baby] spend 2 long months in the NICU when she was born changed me," she said. "I saw how fragile life is, to respect it. I also learned at HomeFront how to sit back and process my feelings, how to deal with my feelings without covering them up and without using. I'm going to hold this place dear in my heart forever." Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton Capital Health The Rescue Mission of Trenton Henry J. Austin Health Center
