Division: Division of Educational Services, Marie H Katzenbach School for Deaf

Description: Under the direction of the Superintendent, Marie H Katzenbach School for Deaf plans and carries out a program to remedy the speech, language, or hearing needs of clients with handicaps, prescribes proper tests and procedures for therapy; participates in research projects; administers tests and evaluates speech or hearing performance; and performs other related work as required.

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology or related field.

Experience: Four (4) years of experience in applying the theory, principles, and techniques of speech-language therapy or audiology. Two (2) years experience as a speech-language therapist is preferred; working with deaf, hard of hearing and multiply disabled ages 3-21 students; ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency preferred. Ability to communicate in American Sign Language preferred, or a commitment to learn American Sign Language in two (2) years.

Katzenbach School for the Deaf, assists in the review, analysis, and appraisal of current department administrative procedures, organization, and performance, and helps to prepare recommendations for changes and/or revisions; and performs other related work as required.

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.

Experience: Two (2) years of experience involving the review, analysis, and evaluation of budget, organization, administrative practices, operational methods, management operations, or data processing applications, or any combination thereof, which shall have included responsibility for recommendation, planning, and/or implementation of improvements in a business or government agency. Applicants

who do not possess the required education may substitute additional experience as indicated on a year-for- year basis with thirty (30) semester hour credits being equal to one (1) year of experience. Note: A Master's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Accounting may be substituted for one (1) year of indicated experience.
