The New Jersey State Council on the Arts, created in 1966, is a division of the NJ Department of State. The Council was established to encourage and foster public interest in the arts; enlarge public and private resources devoted to the arts; promote freedom of expression in the arts; and facilitate the inclusion of art in every public building in New Jersey. The Council receives direct appropriat
ions from the State of New Jersey through a dedicated, renewable Hotel/Motel Occupancy fee, as well as competitive grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. To learn more about the Council, please visit www.artscouncil.nj.gov. The purpose of this page is to promote the nonprofit arts industry and artists in New Jersey, and to showcase the importance of the arts in New Jersey life. We welcome dynamic dialogue and seek comments that are truthful and on-topic. We reserve the right to remove posts that do not reflect this mission.
Happy Hanukkah, New Jersey!
Sending the Jewish community our best wishes during the Festival of Lights!

One of the most frequently heard pieces of feedback from application review panelists is regarding the use of the budget notes field within the budget forms. This area provides a place for applicants to further clarify their budget and help make connections between the budget forms and application narrative.
