It is with deep regret that it has become necessary to announce the passing of Mercer County Fire Marshal James Greschak.

Jimmy, as he was known by most, was a Charter Member and past President of the Association. He served as Mercer County as Fire Marshal for many years and a member of the NJ State Fire Marshals Association.

Jim was a teacher, a community volunteer and freely gave his support to many worthwhile causes and was the founding member of Fire Safety for Older Adults.

Jimmy was a member of the firefighting family in West Windsor Township where he resided.

We thank Fire Marshal Greschak for his service to our community and to Mercer County and pray that he Rests in Peace.

Funeral information will be posted when available.

Rest easy our friend, we’ll take it from here. 🇺🇸

Drive By Support
My father Jim Greschak, was diagnosed with Mesothelioma in January. Many of you know my father, Jim, as the Mercer County Fire Marshal or through the County Fire Chiefs Association, County Firemen's Relief Association, and County Fire Officials or as a 50 year member of the West Windsor Fire Co.
Others know him as a Eucharistic Minister at St. David’s, a Knight of Columbus, Ski Club member and other activities.
We have been touched by the amount of his friends that have reached out or tried to reach out to connect with Dad and wish him well.
I would like to show Dad the support he has and combine it with my daughter Abigail’s birthday, by doing a drive by of emergency services vehicles and friends.
The drive by will take place on this Friday, April 30th at 7 pm.
I would like to thank Chief Kevin Applegate and the West Windsor Fire Co. for their support for this drive by and through this ordeal.
Staging will be at St. David’s Church, 1 New Village Rd. Princeton Junction, NJ 08550. Please enter off of New Village Rd. Staging will begin at 6 pm.
The drive by will be coordinated through Michael Yeh and Jeanine Lennon. They can be reached at [email protected] or [email protected].
If you are sending an emergency vehicle(s), please send a text or email to Mike or Jeanine. Friends and family are encouraged to participate and will be following the emergency vehicles. — with Jodi Christine.

Make your celebration safer. In addition to following the steps that everyone can take to make Thanksgiving safer, take these additional steps while attending a Thanksgiving gathering.

Bring your own food, drinks, plates, cups, and utensils.
Wear a mask, and safely store your mask while eating and drinking.
Avoid going in and out of the areas where food is being prepared or handled, such as in the kitchen.
Use single-use options, like salad dressing and condiment packets, and disposable items like food containers, plates, and utensils.

Have a small outdoor meal with family and friends who live in your community.
Limit the number of guests.
Have conversations with guests ahead of time to set expectations for celebrating together.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and items between use.
If celebrating indoors, make sure to open windows.
Limit the number of people in food preparation areas.
Have guests bring their own food and drink.
If sharing food, have one person serve food and use single-use options, like plastic utensils.

Watch this alarming video of a fire in Illinois. Fire Sprinklers Save Lives!

Watch this stunning video of a home fire in a suburb of Denver, Colorado. It is a drastic illustration of the need for smoke alarms (early warning), fire sprinklers (early suppression), and an escape plan - especially where high-risk residents (young children, elderly, disabled) are present. "We went from celebrating a birthday to chaos in minutes. Grateful everyone survived," stated one of the occupants. ENHANCED RISK OF WILDFIRE SPREAD THIS AFTERNOON...

The combination of west winds of 15 to 20 gusting up to 30 mph at times along with relative humidities dropping below 30 percent will create an elevated risk for the spread of wildfires across the area this afternoon.

Enhanced Threat for Fire Spread This Afternoon...

Relative humidity values will drop into the mid to upper 20s
today. Winds will be out of the west-northwest at 15 to 20 mph
with gusts of 25 to 30 mph. The combination of low humidity,
gusty winds, and drying fine fuels will lead to an enhanced threat for fire spread today. The threat will be maximized this
afternoon, once temperatures have warmed near the expected highs.
