Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Better Opportunities for Single Servicemembers (B.O.S.S.) continues to play an integral role within our installation. This essential program has a presence not only in the Single Servicemember community, but in the single parent and geographical bachelor demographics as well. The mission of BOSS is to enhance the quality of life and morale of Single Servicemembers,
increase retention, sustain readiness and maintain the all volunteer force supporting an expeditionary force. The BOSS programs achieve this posture by supporting the various pillars of BOSS which are the very foundation; that of Quality of Life, Community Service and Recreation and Leisure. BOSS affords servicemembers the opportunity to assist in the planning and ex*****on of recreational activities for Single Servicemembers and provides direction for servicemembers interested in performing community service-related projects. Community service projects allow servicemembers to give back to the community while providing valuable experience, skills, and a sense of community pride and ownership. provides a variety of activities before, during, and after deployment designed to maintain the morale of single Servicemembers affected by increased operational tempo and deployment stress. The B.O.S.S. program has been described as “the Servicemembers’ voice”, “the vehicle of choice for obtaining the single Servicemember perspective, ideas, or feedback”, “supports the Army Family Action Plan (AFAP)”, and “serves as a targeted telescope for the Commander”. B.O.S.S. is all of these depictions and more. Indicative of recognizing the importance of B.O.S.S., many partnerships have been formed, making the installation a safer environment and invoking a sense of harmony.
