Today I grieve with the city of Trenton and a worldwide community of fans. Our resident legend and Trenton’s very first music ambassador, Sarah Dash, has passed away. My heart goes out to her family and friends.

Our motto, “Trenton Makes, the World Takes” was alive and well with Sarah. What Sarah made was beautiful music refined by a lifetime of experience and numerous contributions to the arts and the community. What the world takes is a timeless inspiration of a woman who touched the highest peaks of stardom and never forgot where she came from.

This one hurts. We just worked with her earlier this year on an awareness campaign to motivate more Trentonians to get vaccinated. She didn’t hesitate to help us when we needed her the most.

I’m looking forward to embracing my fellow Trentonians as we privately and collectively celebrate her music and humanitarian works. While she may have passed from this life to the next, her star will never fade from this city and the hearts of its residents.

BIG BIG BIG NEWS!!!

TRENTON ANIMALS ROCK AWARDED CONTRACT TO MANAGE ANIMAL WELFARE SERVICES AT THE TRENTON ANIMAL SHELTER

Trenton, NJ—After 3 years working closely with Trenton Animal Control, Trenton Animals Rock, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue organization, has been awarded a contract to manage all animal welfare services for the Trenton Animal Shelter.

The resolution passed at a City Council meeting on September 16.

“We are thrilled to continue our work with the City of Trenton and the wonderful Animal Control Officers as we build upon the incredible partnership we have formed. Amazing changes have already been made at the shelter and there are certainly many more to come,” said Trenton Animals Rock Founder, Danielle Gletow. “On behalf of myself, our board and our awesome team, I want to especially thank Mayor Reed Gusciora and Councilwoman Marge Caldwell-Wilson for their tireless support and their sincere dedication to improving the quality of care for all animals in the city.”

In addition to managing daily animal care, volunteerism and the foster and adoption program, Trenton Animals Rock also plans to bring new programming to the city shelter, including a food pantry and a medical assistance program for Trenton residents. There will be extended hours at the shelter as well.

Trenton Animals Rock will also be working closely with Trenton Cats Rescue to expand upon their great work and to combine resources to ensure that all animals are given exceptional care.

The Trenton Animal Shelter, which was declared a no-kill facility in October 2020 largely due to the work of TAR & TCR, serves roughly 500 dogs a year and over 300 cats. Volunteers, fosters, adopters and other rescues are critical to keeping the shelter from filling up and people are encouraged to join the efforts by applying at tarnj.org.

In addition to increasing the number of volunteers, Trenton Animals Rock plans to begin hiring for several paid positions at the shelter and encourages Trenton residents to apply. Positions will be posted on their website at tarnj.org by September 24.

For questions or more information, contact [email protected] or William Skaggs at [email protected].

The Department of Health and Human Services consist of several Divisions & Bureaus. The Bureau of Environmental Health, under the managerial leadership of Martin Moore is comprised of Registered Environmental Health Specialist, Public Health Investigators, and a Pest Control Operator, who is pictured here (Michael Ingram).

Some responsibilities of this Bureau are: childhood lead poisoning investigation with the Nursing Division, retail food establishments inspections, temporary food license, public health nuisance complaints, body art/tattoo inspections, and of course pest control, in which bees and beehives are mitigated and removed.

Mr. Ingram is wearing a bee suit that was donated to our Department. This is truly helpful in preventing bee stings and possible hospital visits while he’s responding to the several inquiries and concerns of bee infestations and large beehives within the City of Trenton.

We are here to service the needs of the residents and overall community. Kudos to the Bureau of Environmental Health and thank you to our donor for the bee suit.

Looking great in your suit, Mike! 🙂

👏 👏 👏 22 rescues by the Trenton Fire Department, including this daring one below. We can never take this level of bravery for granted. Thank you!

On the evening of September 1st and the early of morning September 2nd Trenton Fire Fighters faced high winds, torrential downpours, fast moving water and tornado warnings with touchdowns in the area. With what remained of Hurricane Ida hitting Mercer County, they collectively made 22 rescues of victims in swift moving water from ten vehicles. These rescues could not have been made without the bravery and dedication of the departments members and the leadership of that evening. After the rain and winds left the area, members of the department also faced a House fire on the 100 block of Genesee st.

🚨 Just because the weather is nice, doesn't mean we are in the clear! As we have said all along, the threat from this storm was not just the flash flooding from last night, but also water coming into the Delaware from other regions impacted by Ida. The water is rising at this moment as you can see on Olden, Route 1, and others. Again, if you live on the Island, we strongly encourage you to evacuate as soon as you can. The TPD Command Post will be in the area and can be reached for assistance 24/7 via a non-emergency line at 609-712-4831. There's still plenty of shelter, beds, and food at Joyce Kilmer School. For more info, visit https://www.trentonnj.org/flood.
