Controlled Explosive Disposal

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Unit will be conducting the disposal of explosives recovered during a previous search warrant investigation.

The disposal operations will take place today at the Butler County Bomb Range, 1917 Woodsdale Road, Trenton, Ohio, and may continue periodically until dark.

Residents in Trenton, Madison Township, St. Clair Township, and other surrounding areas may hear loud explosions during this time. These noises are expected and are the result of controlled detonations being conducted by trained bomb technicians.

There is no danger to the public. The detonations are being conducted in a safe and controlled environment at the designated bomb range.

We appreciate the public's understanding and cooperation. Please do not call 911 to report the explosions unless you observe suspicious activity unrelated to this scheduled operation.

As a department we have placed a strong focus on investing in our members with quality training. It’s a strong part of the culture within our department that has paid dividends with recruitment and retention of personnel.

Currently two of our members are in Indianapolis at FDTN (Fire Department Training Network) engaged in a 3 day (24 hour) course on Designing, Constructing, and Operating Container-Based Training Props.

Shout out to Captain Nichols and Lieutenant Scott on stepping up to improve our training program here at Trenton Fire Department, as well as exploring potential options for TFD to investigate in regard to future training props and facilities.

Shout out to Monroe Fire for hosting a hands on Thermal Imaging Camera class. We appreciate the invite!

On February 23rd, Mr. Arnett experienced a medical emergency that left him unresponsive and in a life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia.

Today, Mr. Arnett dropped by the fire house to thank our crews for their quick intervention on February 23rd that he credits with saving his life. Our paramedics performed a 12 lead EKG on the scene and rapidly determined that Mr. Arnett needed electrical intervention in the form of a synchronized cardioversion.

We would like to thank Mr. Arnett for stopping by today to share his story with us, and for his permission to share it with the community. Although he has had a long road to recovery, he is thankful to still be here today.

This is a true testament as to the quality of staff we have at Trenton Fire Department that serve our community day in and day out. We truly do have some of the best folks around.

New Stryker Lifepak 35 cardiac monitor/ defibrillators are going in service at Trenton Fire Department. These three (3) new monitors will replace 3 aging cardiac monitors that are nearing the end of their useful service life.

Our EMS providers utilize cardiac monitor / defibrillators to monitor a plethora of information such as: heart rate, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, carbon monoxide levels, qualitative and quantitative capnography. Additionally these devices are used to deliver defibrillations, temporary pacing of the heart and synchronized cardioversion to correct potentially lethal cardiac arrhythmias.

The new monitors have a few added capabilities that our current cardiac monitors do not have, such as CPR insight, enhanced 12 lead EKG features, 15 lead EKG capability, and the ability to live stream data with clinicians if needed.

In addition to three (3) new Lifepak 35 cardiac monitor/defibrillators, we will also be replacing 4 AEDs that have reached the end of their useful service life.

These new monitors will be rolled out to both of our Medic units , as well as our ALS equipped Engine Company.

Over the last couple of weeks our EMS providers have been completing hands-on training with the new monitors, to ensure a smooth transition to the new equipment. Shout out to our Stryker rep Dan for coming out to train with our crews on the new monitors!
