The Children’s Home Society of New Jersey is a nonprofit child and family serving agency whose mission is to save children’s lives and build healthy families.
http://chsofnj.org The Children’s Home Society of New Jersey was founded in 1894 with the mission of finding loving families for children, protecting children from harm, and helping parents find better ways to be parents so they can keep their children. These three facets of our mission remain core to us today. Today, we believe we are saving children’s lives and building healthy families. CHS of
NJ continues to offer its original services of adoption assistance and foster care in nurturing, loving homes. Over the years, our services have expanded to respond to the needs of children in our communities, but our mission has remained the same. Our 45 programs include Early Childhood & Parenting Education, School-based Programs, Clinical & Mental Health, Maternal and Child Health Issues, Kinship Services, Community & Neighborhood Based Services and others that target protection and care of children. It is our vision that all children have secure, caring families, enjoy good health, and develop to function well cognitively, emotionally and behaviorally. If you receive SNAP benefits, please note these upcoming changes!
Starting in March 2023, SNAP households will no longer receive the temporary, extra benefits offered to offset COVID-19 hardships in March 2020 and will return to their regular SNAP benefit amounts.
Governor Murphy signed legislation making New Jersey the first state to create a SNAP minimum monthly benefit of $50. This law supplements the federal minimum of $23. The new minimum benefit will go into effect in March, meaning no SNAP recipient will receive less than $50 per month in assistance.
All SNAP recipients will also receive a letter in the mail in February notifying them of these changes and their new benefit amount.
SNAP enrollees can check their regular benefit amount at any time by:
logging into the ConnectEBT mobile app
visiting the website portal at www.njfamiliesfirst.com
calling 1-800-997-3333 (the number on the back of their EBT Families First card)
~

Our TEDI kids are interested in the performing arts so when an opportunity arose from a generous offer extended by the McCarter Theatre in Princeton to attend a dress rehearsal of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, they (as well as their Artistic Director Kayla James) literally jumped at the chance!

Today is Giving Tuesday! In the final week of "Real People, Real Stories," we focus on our community doula program. We train local folks to offer emotional, physical and informational support to expectant parents and their families during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. Community doulas provide information about childbirth and breastfeeding, with no less than four prenatal visits, and four visits during the postpartum period. Community doulas provide their services in both English and Spanish, and connect families to bilingual community resources. Help us save children's lives and build healthy families throughout the month of November and beyond by donating to the link below and sharing this post.

Alaniz is a sweet 2 years 4 months old girl participant of the Early HeadStart Program since she was 9 months old. As you see in the video Alaniz and her mom, Barbara, have a wonderful bond. During our conversations I always encourage mom to take the time to play with Alaniz and I also praise mom for her efforts. Mom learned how to create a daily routine and a fun environment of learning where Alaniz have fun, learn and feel free to be herself.
