Did you know: This marble statue, which commemorates Washington's Crossing of the Delaware, was sculpted in Italy by Mahlon Dickerson Eyre. The statue was first displayed in 1876 in Philadelphia at the Centennial Exposition, the first World's Fair held in the United States. The statue was purchased by the city of Trenton in 1889, and it was erected in Trenton's Cadwalader Park in 1892. It was moved to S Montgomery Street in 1976.
