No, public employees cannot use government vehicles for personal errands.

OSC works to strengthen integrity, efficiency, and transparency across New Jersey government.

Our audits examine how public programs use taxpayer dollars and whether internal controls and oversight are functioning as they should.

Our past audits have found issues such as:

❌Unclear vehicle‑use policies
📋 Limited monitoring of government resources
🚨 Weak internal controls that increase the risk of waste

OSC works to ensure New Jersey’s public money is spent responsibly. When government in our state buys goods or services, it is using taxpayer dollars.

OSC’s Public Contracting Oversight Division reviews large contracts from towns, schools, counties, and state agencies to confirm they follow the law and make sure they are getting the best value.

This work helps protect taxpayer funds and supports transparency across government.
