NJ's Assemblywoman Pinkin Discusses Stormwater Solutions
How will New Jersey manage to update old water infrastructure as well as address the impacts of flooding and climate change? As Assemblywoman Pinkin explains, the state's legislature is taking steps through legislation that tackles stormwater management.
Congressman Brendan Boyle, the Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed, Riverfront North Partnership, Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership, and Pennsylvania Environmental Council gathered for a press conference in Lardner’s Point Park on October 24, 2018 to advocate for 2019 federal funding for Delaware River Basin states, including Pennsylvania.
The Delaware River Basin Restoration Program (DRBRP) received $5 million for fiscal year 2018 and stakeholders are now encouraging Congress to increase the funding to $6 million for fiscal year 2019. On September 28th, Congress did not vote on the fiscal year 2019 Department of Interior bill, which contains DRBRP funding. Instead, Congress passed a continuing resolution, giving them until December 7th to act.

Defending New Jersey from Flooding
Thanks to the work NJ League of Conservation Voters and many partner organizations, bill A2694/S1073 allowing municipalities to implement stormwater utilities passed out of NJ Assembly committee yesterday! In this video, NJLCV Executive Director Ed Potosnak highlights the importance of legislation in the fight to defend against flooding and polluted runoff that ends up in our waterways.

Butterfly tagging in Cape May, NJ
Last week at #DelRivForum2018, Joy Oakes of National Parks Conservation Association captured this video of a beautiful monarch butterfly basking in the #CapeMay sun. Thanks to monarch tagging, we know that each Fall east coast monarchs travel thousands of miles south to migrate in the Central Mexican Mountains.
