Dade County EMA will open all three community shelter facilities as cooling areas due to the high heat index forecast for our area over the next several days.

These shelters will be open 24 hours a day for anyone who needs them. The community shelters are monitored by cameras so we can know if anyone is there and to help ensure everyone’s safety.

If you use these facilities, tables and chairs will be available, but you will need to bring any items you may need to stay for an extended period, such as food and water.

PSA: There is a manhole cover for the storm drain that is broken at the corner of S. Main and Crabtree St. by ZaBrew. The state has been notified but please use caution until they get it repaired. Currently it is blocked with cones.

Today marks what is likely the most significant healthcare announcement in Dade County's history.

While the project must still complete Georgia's Certificate of Need process, today's announcement represents a major step toward bringing 24/7 emergency care to a county that has gone without a hospital or urgent care facility.

Improving access to healthcare was one of County Executive Don Townsend's central campaign commitments during the 2024 election. Immediately after taking office in January 2025, he began working with HCA Healthcare to explore opportunities to bring emergency medical services to Dade County. Today's announcement represents an important milestone in that 18-month effort.

Parkridge Health System has announced plans to apply for a Certificate of Need with the Georgia Office of Health Planning and the Georgia Department of Community Health to establish an $18 million freestanding emergency department in Trenton.

If approved, the Parkridge Dade ER would provide 24/7 emergency care for patients of all ages, bringing life-saving emergency services much closer to home. In addition to expanding access to emergency care, the project has the potential to improve emergency response throughout our county by reducing ambulance transport times and helping EMS units return to service more quickly.

Parkridge Health System announces plans to bring freestanding emergency room to Dade County, Georgia

Chattanooga, TN (July 31, 2026) – Parkridge Health System, part of HCA Healthcare, today announced its plans to apply for a Certificate of Need with the Georgia Office of Health Planning and the Department of Community Health to establish a new $18 million freestanding emergency department in Trenton, GA. The proposed Parkridge Dade ER will be located on the corner of Highway 11 and Georgia State Route 136, expanding access to emergency care for residents in Dade County and surrounding communities.

The Parkridge Dade ER will operate as a satellite location of Parkridge Health System’s main emergency department providing 24/7 emergency care for patients of all ages. The facility will feature:

• 11 treatment rooms, including a trauma room
• On-site laboratory services
• Advanced imaging services
• Central nurses’ station
• Clinical support spaces

The Parkridge Dade ER would become the sixth freestanding emergency room in Parkridge Health System’s network, joining existing locations in Jasper, Soddy-Daisy, East Ridge and North Hamilton County, as well as a fifth currently under development in Cleveland.

Each location is staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and highly trained clinical teams. Patients will have access to the same level of emergency care available in a hospital-based emergency department.

PUBLIC NOTICE FROM THE DADE COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS AND REGISTRATION
The Dade County Board of Elections and Registration has received inquiries from voters regarding a recent voter registration mailing distributed by a third-party organization.
The organization, Ready to Register Inc., has mailed voter registration applications to an unknown number of Georgia residents. Reports from around the state indicate that some mailings may have been sent to deceased individuals and that outdated data sources may have been used in the mailing process.
The Dade County Board of Elections and Registration would like to remind voters of the following:
1. These mailers were not sent by the Dade County Board of Elections and Registration or the Georgia Secretary of State's Office.
2. Exercise caution before providing personally identifiable information (PII) on unfamiliar websites or to unknown organizations.
3. If you have questions or concerns about a mailing you received, please contact the organization responsible for the mailing directly. According to the organization's website, Ready to Register Inc. can be reached at [email protected].
4. If you are already registered to vote at your current address, no action is required. The mailing may simply be discarded. Eligible Georgia citizens who need to register may do so online through the Georgia Secretary of State's Online Voter Registration portal at:

Please remember tomorrow will begin the enforcement of the trash pickup changes in the city limits.

* Can must be at least 3ft from any other can, mailbox or other objects in order for the arm on the truck to pick it up.
* Can lid must be able to close.
* Any unapproved cans will not be picked up.
* Can must be facing the roadway with handle to the backside.
* All cans need to be placed either the night before or 6am on pickup days to ensure it is picked up.

If you see you are going to need an additional can or a sticker for your approved can please come to City Hall and complete the paperwork.
