In an assembly Thursday morning at Lord Stirling Community School in New Brunswick, Secretary of Agriculture, Ed Wengryn, presented Lord Stirling with the 2024 New Jersey Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program "VIP" 1st place award.

🎉Congratulations Lord Stirling, students, staff, and administrators. Your commitment to bringing fresh, local fruit and vegetable snacks to students, along with food and nutrition education, is applauded.

This week we'd like to spotlight 🎉🎉

Bogota School District is recognized for its motto, "Education is the key to success," and it has proven its success with support from the Healthy Meals incentives Grant in 2023.
The supporting funds allowed them to upgrade their kitchen equipment, create a hydroponics garden system, and create farm-to-table dining experiences within the school district. They have successfully increased engagement with their students by providing hands-on sustainable knowledge and providing produce to be included for student nutritional meals.
They continue to innovate their systems, provide resources and tools to expand their growing space, and provide hands-on experience in and out of the classroom with the help of other grant opportunities. We look forward to seeing this and many other schools push toward further success in their Farm to School programming. 🎉
