My whole life and i have seen a lot of wealthy living families and some who have nothing looking for the next tarp to sleep under, to keep their selfs and their families dry. Since i was a little girl i have ALWAYS wanted to one day own my own homeless shelter! I my self have lived in vans and under gazebos covering up with clothes to stay warm ! I HATE seeing other that way because i know from ex
perience how it feels. Some may say well they got their selfs there its because of drugs and booze that put them in this spot, but how do we really know that? What if a homeless man you see walking down the street with a cart didnt just loose his whole family in a fire in his home and lost everything. What if there is a homeless women walkin down the street that had everything and her son or daughter had a tumor in his/her brain and she had to sell everything including her home just to pay for all the medical bills because they would not do surgery with out the money in their hands. NOONE knows what others go through so dont judge because of the way they look or because they have nothing but a shirt on their back. I remember one day when i worked at Wendy on 28 a women came in a and she was filthy and i mean filthy dirt all over the place no shoes NOTHING and she came in and asked for a water cup and i told her hold on i gave this women a water cup and a meal for her to eat that i paid for! and this women started crying to me telling me her whole story about how she lived with her husband and he was physically abusive and one day he threw her out on the street and she had no family in this area to help her so she was stuck living on the street where ever she found a warm place to live. I told her to come back to my job the next day and i went home and went through all of my clothes and gave her everything she needed this women had no bra no socks no shoes just a sweater granit it was summer time hot as hell and sweat pants on. That right there i new one day i was going to do something for pepole in this situation. yes there are homeless shelters all over BUT there are so many people out there with no where to live that these shelters are full where its leaving other in woods in sewers under cars everything! Me and my boyfriend want to do something amazing nothing big but something that can maybe change a few lifes! ! I hate to see people suffer and anyone who knows me knows i would give the shirt off my back to anyone in need no matter what and i think its time to start building my dream and thats giving homeless families a roof over their head even if its just one or 2 i will know when i sleep at night that that will be one or two lives i changed,
__ So my favor to ask all my facebook friends and family .. Is if you have stuff lying around would you donate to help build and help keep it afloat ? To help build it
1) Wood / Ply wood to build the walls
2) Nails to keep the walls together
3) Insulation
4) Cheap tile
Anything that you may have lying around i will be getting stuff off craigslist as well
Keep it perfect
1) Canned food
2) Extra clothes for the people , shirts sweat pants , socks , scarfs , gloves. Anything helps
3) Blankets , pillows
4) Decorations something to make this place feel like home.
5) Cots
