Please remember to call in your controlled burns. There is a county ordinance requiring all persons planning a controlled burn to fill out a burn permit and be approved before each burn. You may do this by calling the sheriff's office at 6203764233. Please call in at least an hour before you plan to burn and let us know when you are finished.
Anyone burning without approval may be fined up to $1000 and/or receive a bill from the fire department if they respond to a fire call that is an unapproved controlled burn.

There is a phone scam going around in which the caller presents himself as law enforcement and gives a badge number. The caller then claims to be with a family member who has been in an accident and there might even be someone crying in the background. The number these calls are coming from is 620-293-9443. Try not to answer calls from this number and if possible, block the number and report as spam.
There is also an email scam going around in which the recipient receives an email from Geek Squad giving a phone number to call and a link to click. Upon clicking on the link the scammers gain access to your computer. Do not call the number or click on the link.
Always remember not to give any personal or financial information to anyone you don't know to be exactly who they are claiming to be and never click on unknown links or open unknown attachments in emails.
If you know you are being scammed and wish to report it, use this link to report the scam directly to the FCC. https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov
