Wednesday, June 24, 1:30 - Dan Dan the Magic Man! Our most popular summer program is back! This program is for all ages, children 6 and younger must have a caregiver stay with them. See you at the library!

We have finished our story/crafting times! Everyone read and talked about the USA’s birthday and made patriotic bookmarks. Then the first group played 4th of July bingo. The second group finished the agamograph pictures they started on Monday. Then everyone got a new book to take home! See you next Wednesday for Dan Dan the Magic Man!

Reminder: today is the last day of story/craft sessions for our Summer Reading program-Unearth a Story! Kindergarten-2nd grade at 9:00-10:00, 3rd and older at 10:30-11:30. We have other events next week, including Dan Dan the Magic Man on Wednesday for all ages, signed up or not, and our final party and prize giveaways for those signed up next Friday. See you at the library!

Today we Unearthed a Story of the Fourth of July for our Summer Reading session. We learned why and how we celebrate on the Fourth. We made pinwheels that we took with us to the Greeley County Museum, where we went on a scavenger hunt! With our shortened time today we were not able to complete the hunt, so your kids are bringing their hunt home with them. You are welcome to go to the museum anytime they’re open to continue the hunt! We enjoyed yogurt, blueberry,and strawberry parfaits before heading home. Another fun day of Summer Reading!

Time change! Tomorrow (Wednesday) we are adjusting our Summer Reading schedule. We will meet 4:00-5:30 instead of 6:00 due to several people being involved with t-ball tomorrow night. We will still have time for a fun trip Unearthing a Story of Greeley County history at the Museum! See you at the library first, then we’ll go there together!

On Monday we started week 3 of our Summer Reading program by Unearthing a Story of the United States flag! We learned all about the Pledge of Allegiance. Then we colored squares to make a flag quilt. Some of us painted stars with marbles. Others made agamograph pictures of flags and eagles. On Wednesday we take another trip to the Greeley County Museum! See you at the library!

Wednesday afternoon we enjoyed a great session at the Greeley County Museum! While some played Dino games outside on the lawn and in the gazebo, others toured inside and saw the mammoth skull that was found just east of Tribune, and other fossils in the museum. Special thanks to Jennifer Vogt-Crockett, Julie Fisher, and Mallory Walk for sharing your knowledge with us! Then we returned to the library for Dino nuggets, veggies, and Dino cookies. A fun time was had by all!

Today: We Unearth a Story from long ago! We will meet at the library with both Summer Reading groups at 4:00 for a story. Then we will walk together to the Greeley County Museum for activities and to learn about fossils and bones from long ago that have been found in and near Greeley County! See you at the library!

We are Unearthing fossils and dinosaurs this week in Summer Reading! Today after reading some interesting information about dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures we made dinosaur eggs, imprinted fossils, and encased insects in amber. Next session: field trip from the library to the Greeley County Museum Wednesday at 4:00 to see fossils!
