The DeWayne Key Memorial Run is happening this Saturday! 🏃‍♂️

Formerly known as the Jesse Owens Memorial Run, this year’s race has been renamed in memory of DeWayne Key, an avid distance runner who helped popularize the sport in Lawrence County. Key served for many years as race director of the Jesse Owens Memorial Run and helped organize numerous cross country meets, including the AHSAA State Championships in Oakville.

The event will take place Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Moulton Park & Recreation, located at 13550 Court Street in Moulton.

The 5K Run/Walk begins at 8 AM, followed by the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk at 8:45 AM for children ages 0–10.

Each participant will receive a T-shirt. Medals will be awarded to the top finishers in each age group, with trophies for overall winners, Masters, Grand Masters, and Senior Masters winners.

Registration on race day is $30.

Whether you’re running, walking, cheering from the sidelines, or bringing the kids out for the Fun Run, this is a great way to honor a man who left a lasting mark on Lawrence County running. 🏅
