NOTICE OF SMOKE TESTING OF SEWER LINES

The City will be conducting smoke testing of the sanitary sewer system beginning today, May 18th in the following areas:
FM 1617
Pink Door hangers were placed on doors of residences in the areas of testing.

This testing helps identify leaks, breaks, and improper connections within the sewer system. During the testing process, residents may notice white or gray smoke coming from roof vents, manholes, or the ground. The smoke is non-toxic, non-staining, has no odor, and is not harmful to people, pets, or plants.

If smoke enters your home or business, please notify City Hall immediately at (936)594-2507. Smoke entering a building may indicate a plumbing issue such as a dry drain trap or defective plumbing connection.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to improve and maintain the City’s sewer infrastructure.

City Council Meeting was held last night, May 14, 2026.

There were three council positions and the mayor that were up for election this year. Because all four incumbents were unopposed, the election was canceled in accordance with State law, and each member was sworn in to serve another two-year term.

Mayor Billy Goodin was sworn into office by Justice of the Peace Precinct 3, the Honorable Keith Johnson. Following his oath, Mayor Goodin administered the Oath of Office to Municipal Judge Keith Johnson.

Trinity County Commissioner Precinct 3, Neal Smith, administered the Oath of Office to his son, Councilman Jason “Bubba” Smith, Position 2.

The Honorable Judge Johnson also administered the Oath of Office to Councilman Clegg Dewalt, Position 1, and Councilman Scott Womack, Position 3.

Councilman Phillip Morrison, who currently serves as Mayor Pro- Tem, was nominated and unanimously re-elected to continue in that role.

We look forward to working together over the next two years as we continue serving the citizens of Trinity with dedication, integrity, and a shared commitment to the future of our community.

She had the opportunity to meet Principal Copley and say hello to the entire school—what a great visit with such an amazing group of students and staff.
