Recent Severe Thunderstorm Results in Damage in City of Trotwood Neighborhoods

(Trotwood, Ohio) – The City of Trotwood cautions residents and community members to exercise caution when traveling throughout the city following the recent severe thunderstorm, which caused damage in multiple areas. City crews are continuing to assess the extent of the damage and will remain vigilant.

The City's Public Works Department and AES service crews will be working diligently to clear debris, address hazards, and restore affected areas. Residents are asked to give crews sufficient space to safely perform cleanup and restoration operations. Remain alert and cautious in known affected areas such as Broadmoor, Olde Town, Stubbs, and Townview neighborhoods, which have downed trees, branches, debris, and power lines.

Residents who choose to conduct their own storm cleanup are asked to take
precautions. Do not approach or attempt to remove downed power lines. Any wire
should be considered energized and potentially life-threatening.

For branches and other storm debris that residents can safely remove, the city asks that materials be:
- Cut into smaller, manageable pieces that crews can safely transport.
- Placed at the curb for collection.
- Kept clear of vehicles, fire hydrants, utility equipment, and other obstructions whenever possible.

City of Trotwood Public Works crews will conduct a citywide storm-debris collection throughout next week. Residents are encouraged to place eligible storm debris at the curb in preparation for collection.

The city recognizes the inconvenience and challenges created by the storm and appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents as crews work to restore the community.
