These are the same folks who were in Troup last week without a city permit were in the City of Bullard, TX - Government. City permits cost a solicitor $5.00. Permits enable cities to have contact information in case citizens have a problem with a solicitor.

Reputable solicitors do not see the permit as an impediment.

The City of Bullard would like to make residents aware that the City has not issued a solicitors permit to Romex Pest Control.

Residents are encouraged to use caution when interacting with door-to-door solicitors and may request to see a valid city-issued permit before conducting business.

For questions or concerns regarding solicitors in your area, please contact Bullard City Hall or the Bullard Police Department.

The Troup Police Department would like to welcome our newest officer, Officer Sara Deville, to the Troup PD family!

Officer Deville comes to us with over 9 years of law enforcement experience. Prior to joining Troup PD, she served with the Lake Dallas Police Department where she held several important roles throughout her career, including Field Training Officer, Patrol Corporal, and later CID Detective.

Officer Deville recently made the decision to move closer to home. A graduate of Henderson, she still has family in the area and is excited to continue her law enforcement career serving East Texas communities.

Please join us in welcoming Officer Deville to the Troup Police Department. We are excited to have her experience, leadership, and dedication as part of our team!

The Troup Police Department has recently received complaints from citizens regarding fraudulent text messages claiming to be from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. These messages state that the recipient has unpaid traffic citations and threaten penalties such as vehicle registration cancellation, indefinite driver’s license suspension, and additional civil judgments with a 30% collection surcharge if payment is not made immediately.

These messages have been confirmed as fraudulent by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). Please do not fall victim to these scams or provide any personal or financial information.

If you receive one of these messages and believe you may have an outstanding citation, you can verify it yourself through the official Texas DPS website: https://www.dps.texas.gov/apps/citations/search

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Troup Police Department and we will gladly assist you.

The City of Troup is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all residents and visitors.

Recently, the City received a complaint regarding signs placed within the public right-of-way in the downtown area that contained messaging that could be considered offensive or hateful in nature. While the City does not tolerate hate speech or messages that divide our community, we are also required to act within the boundaries of the law.

After consultation with the City Attorney, it has been determined that the appropriate course of action for removal of these signs falls under the enforcement of Texas Transportation Code §363, which regulates signage placed within public rights-of-way.

The City will proceed with enforcement accordingly to ensure compliance with state law and to maintain the integrity and safety of public spaces.

We appreciate the community bringing this matter to our attention and encourage all citizens to continue working together to keep Troup a place built on respect, unity, and civic pride.

Official Statement – Troup Police Department

Today, the Troup Police Department responded to a potential threat reported to the school via a phone call. In accordance with established safety protocols, the school immediately went into lockdown while local law enforcement agencies responded to assist.

All three campuses were quickly secured by Troup ISD Police and assisting agencies, allowing only emergency personnel access. At the same time, the Troup Police Department began an immediate investigation into the reported threat.

After a thorough investigation, it was determined that the reported threat was a hoax intended to prompt an emergency response from law enforcement and school officials. Once it was confirmed that there was no credible threat to students or staff, everyone was safely released in accordance with school safety procedures and under the direction of officers on scene.

Following the release, officers conducted a comprehensive sweep of all campuses to ensure there were no potential threats or hazards present.

This investigation remains active and ongoing. We have already developed several leads that our office is actively pursuing. Rest assured that the individual(s) responsible will be identified, arrested, and held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

The safety of our students, staff, and community remains our highest priority. We appreciate the swift response and cooperation from all agencies involved, as well as the patience and understanding of parents, students, and staff during today’s events.
