Busy Day for B-Shift!

Yesterday, B-Shift personnel responded to two separate structure fires within just a few hours of one another.

The first incident occurred at 3:27 p.m. in the 200 block of Murdock Road. Engine 1 arrived on scene to find smoke showing from a commercial structure and immediately declared a working fire. Crews from Engine 1 and Ladder 1 quickly deployed and brought the fire under control, allowing all incoming companies to be canceled with the exception of Engine 3. Upon arrival, Engine 3 was assigned to conduct a primary search of the structure to ensure there were no occupants inside. Following completion of the search and confirmation that the structure was clear, the incident was placed under control at 3:59 p.m.

The second structure fire was dispatched at 7:56 p.m. in the 100 block of Tremount Lane. Engine 1 was again the first arriving unit and reported smoke showing from a single-story residential structure, prompting the declaration of a working fire. Engine 1 initiated an aggressive interior fire attack with support from Ladder 1, and crews were able to quickly contain and extinguish the fire. The incident was declared under control at 8:22 p.m.

We would like to thank all of our mutual aid partners who responded to both incidents and stood ready to assist.

Today at approximately 1:53 PM, A-Shift personnel were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 200 block of Pineville Road.

Troutman Chief 2 was the first unit to arrive on scene and reported a fully involved barn fire. Engine 2, the first-arriving engine company, immediately deployed its deck gun to begin knocking down the bulk of the fire. Catawba Tanker 85 arrived shortly thereafter and established a water supply for Engine 2.

As additional apparatus and personnel arrived, crews deployed multiple handlines and initiated an aggressive fire suppression operation. Since then, a control time has been declared by incident command.

Personnel remain on scene at this time to extinguish hot spots. We ask motorists and residents to avoid the area whenever possible to allow emergency crews to operate safely and efficiently.

**UPDATE** All units have since cleared the scene.

Thank you to all of our mutual aid for your assistance on scene:

Today at approximately 4:41 p.m., A-Shift personnel were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 100 block of Silver Falls Drive.

A firefighter from the West Iredell Fire Department arrived on scene first via POV and advised incoming units of an active gas-fed fire on the exterior of the residence. Troutman Engine 2 was the first arriving engine company and deployed a handline to extinguish the fire. Engine 1 and Ladder 1 arrived shortly thereafter, with Engine 1 personnel conducting a primary assessment of the residence for fire extension while Ladder 1 secured the gas supply at the meter.

While responding to the incident, Engine 3 encountered a motor vehicle accident and stopped to provide assistance.

Following extinguishment of the fire, Mooresville Fire-Rescue HazMat personnel were requested to the scene to mitigate and control the active gas leak.

We would like to thank the following agencies for their assistance and cooperation during this incident:

Mooresville Fire-Rescue
Shepherds Fire - Rescue
West Iredell Fire Department

All responding units have since cleared the scene and have returned to service.
