Big turnout last Friday for the Brunswick Soccer Clubs’s Spring Celebration and World
Cup Watch Party! Thanks to Coach Matt Breslin and all the volunteers who setup this event. As a former high school and college athlete, I’ve always been passionate about supporting youth sport and, was happy to be sponsoring the team this year.

Today we recognize Juneteenth, a day that commemorates June 19, 1865, when the final enforcement of emancipation reached enslaved Americans in Texas and freedom was finally realized for many who had waited far too long.

Juneteenth is an important reminder of our nation’s ongoing journey toward fulfilling the promise that all people are created equal. As we reflect on our history, we can also celebrate the progress that has been made and recommit ourselves to the ideals of liberty, opportunity, and respect for all.

Rensselaer County continues to make improvements and investments in Highway services. In 2025, the county completed paving the entire 330-mile county road network.
On Wednesday, led by County Executive Steve McLaughlin, the county opened the third new county Highway garage. The new garage is located in Brunswick on the site of the former Rifenburg companies and will help the county repair and service roads more easily.
Congratulations to County Executive Steve McLaughlin and his team on this accomplishment.

Congratulations to Merritt Cropsey Jr. on earning the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. Merritt is a member of Troop 528, which has seen four members earn Eagle in recent months. An impressive accomplishment!
Merritt is a student at Hudson Valley Community College and completed a new shed for use by members of the Sullivan-Jones VFW Post. A meaningful project and one that will support veterans for years to come.
Merritt joins the ranks of Eagle Scouts who are leaders and contributors to society. I have every expectation Merritt will do many more great things in his life.

“Today is about something very simple: providing safe, reliable drinking water for our families,” Assemblyman Scott Bendett said at a press conference while flanked by town, county and state officials donning hard hats.
An important project now underway in Poestenkill, and one I am proud to have supported.

It has been nearly five years since the town of Poestenkill discovered dangerous forever chemicals in the Algonquin Middle School’s drinking water. The town is now embarking on a new chapter …

Big day in the district, particularly in Rensselaer County. In Poestenkill, the town kicked off an important water district for areas of the town.
The project started following the discovery of PFOA in the community, and federal, state and county funding assistance was received. I was proud to support the funding for the town project in state budgets, as Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin assigned $600,000 in county ARPA funds.
Congratulations to Supervisor Michelle Garofolo and members of the Town Board on the start of this important project.
