Honorary Consulate of Romania to Michigan

It was an honor to participate this morning in a roundtable discussion at Lansing's Capital Region International Airport (LAN), together with U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, Congressman Tom Barrett, Nicole Noll-Williams, President & CEO of the Capital Region Airport Authority, and other business and community leaders from across Michigan.

During the event, I also appreciated the opportunity to have several private conversations about -ROMOTANA – the Romanian Moldovan Trucking Association of North America, an organization I am proud to have co-founded and serve as Vice President. I shared information about our upcoming 4th ROMOTANA Gala, which will take place this November in Washington, D.C., bringing together leaders and members of the Romanian and Moldovan transportation and business communities from across North America.

I also had a very good conversation with Nicole Noll-Williams and members of her team about the growing Lansing–Suceava partnership and some exciting possibilities for future cooperation. Building stronger connections between our two communities remains an important priority, and I look forward to continuing these discussions and exploring what we can accomplish together.

Thank you to Congressman Tom Barrett, Secretary Sean Duffy, Nicole Noll-Williams and the entire Fly Lansing team, as well as everyone who participated in today’s roundtable, for the opportunity to exchange ideas and strengthen relationships.

🇺🇸 Happy 250th Anniversary, America! 🇺🇸

Today we proudly celebrate 250 years of the United States of America—a nation founded on the enduring principles of liberty, democracy, opportunity, and hope.

As Honorary Consul of Romania to Michigan, I am grateful for the strong friendship between the United States and Romania, a partnership built on shared values, mutual respect, and the commitment to freedom. Every day, we continue to strengthen the bonds between our two nations through cultural exchange, business, education, and the lasting friendships between our communities.

On this historic Independence Day, let us honor the generations who built this great nation, remember those who have defended its freedoms, and look forward with confidence to an even brighter future.

May God bless the United States of America.

Last Friday, June 26, it was a privilege to visit Dasmar Termo in Suceava together with Lansing Mayor Andy Schor and our delegation. We were warmly welcomed by Mr. Marius Dascălu, owner of Dasmar Termo, whose vision, determination, and leadership have built one of Romania’s outstanding window and door manufacturing companies.

I was especially pleased to reconnect with Mr. Dascălu, who honored us with his presence last December at the Lansing–Suceava Sister City Agreement ceremony in Michigan, demonstrating his commitment to strengthening ties between Romania and the United States.

Our visit was also a powerful reminder that true leadership is measured by resilience. After the devastating fire that destroyed much of the factory two years ago, many would have given up. Instead, Mr. Dascălu and his dedicated team rebuilt the company from the ground up—creating an even stronger, more modern facility that stands today as an example of perseverance, innovation, and faith.

Companies like Dasmar Termo showcase the quality, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurial spirit that Romania has to offer. I look forward to seeing new opportunities for cooperation and business partnerships between Romanian manufacturers and the American market.

Congratulations to Mr. Marius Dascălu and the entire Dasmar Termo team for your remarkable achievement. Your story is an inspiration, and I wish you continued success for many years to come.
