Michael Brendel Named Interim President of Troy Chamber and CEO Troy Development Council

The Troy Ohio Chamber of Commerce and the Troy Development Council have announced the appointment of Michael Brendel as Interim President of the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce and Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Troy Development Council, effective March 2.

Brendel will serve in a dual leadership role on a short-term basis to provide organizational oversight and continuity while the boards of directors conduct a comprehensive search for a permanent President and CEO. In addition to overseeing the strategic vision of both organizations, he will assist the boards with recruitment and the transition process to ensure continued alignment with each organization’s strategic priorities.

The Troy Area Chamber of Commerce and the Troy Development Council announce that we have accepted the resignation of Joey Graves, effective November 24. Joey has served as President of the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce and CEO of the Troy Development Council since 2018. Both boards extend their sincere appreciation to him for his years of dedicated service and leadership within the Troy community. We thank Joey for his many contributions and wish him continued success in his next endeavor.

Both organizations remain fully functional and committed to serving the Troy community as we begin the search for the next President/CEO.

My favorite kind of day...groundbreakings and job creation!

Thank you to Komyo Logistics and Honda Logistics North America for choosing Troy, Ohio, USA for your first Komyo owned facility. From this $16M, 500,000 square feet announcement, 166 new jobs will be created.

On our biennial trade mission to Japan this past May, we had the honor of finalizing the deal with Mr. Hiroshi Shimizu, President of Honda Logistics (HLI).

This is a great example of economic development being a team sport and could not have happened without Tim Davis, Director of Community Development, and Patrick Titterington, City Director, and Mayor Robin Oda, of the City of Troy.

These World War 2 gliders were manufactured right here in Troy, Ohio, USA and played an instrumental role in the World War II.

Interesting fact...to this day Collins Aerospace continues to use one of the buildings used to manufacture gliders to manufacture wheels and brakes for modern aircraft.

Troy Development Council CEO, Joseph A. Graves, had the immense pleasure of spending some time with three heroes yesterday, all employees of SEW EURODRIVE - Troy. To celebrate their heroism, an employee luncheon was held at SEW Eurodrive to honor the three. Robin Oda / Mayor of Troy, OH and Ohio State Senator Steve Huffman, were in attendance, as well and presented the heroes with City and State proclamations.

Over a month ago, a contractor was mowing around a retention pond when the mower flipped and landed on top of the man, pinning him underwater. Jeff Godwin, happened to be outside on a break and heard a scream from the contractor before he was pinned underwater. Jeff immediately ran to offer assistance. Fellow employees on break and further from the accident, Brad Flaute and Jeff Curtis, also ran to assist. After diving into the water, it took the strength of three men to lift the submerged zero turn mower off the contractor and return him to the surface.

Due to the selfless act of these individuals a man was able to return home that afternoon.

Occasionally, heroes wear steel toed boots and not capes!

The Troy Foundation and Clothes that Work are partnering to tackle workforce development in Troy, Ohio.

Two wonderful organizations partnering for a better Troy, Ohio and Miami County.

Last year, we were approached by Clothes That Work about bringing their services to Troy through their new mobile unit. They are on a mission to "...clothe, educate, and empower individuals to prepare them for employment success."

They received a grant during our September grant cycle last year and have now begun helping people prepare for success in Troy. This week we had the chance to see their program in action! Thank you to Clothes That Work for offering this program and all the partners who have come alongside them to help this program succeed.
