Today reminded us once again of the beauty of serving others. There is something powerful that happens when people gather around a meal. Strangers become friends, friends become family, and compassion finds a place to live.

At Refuge Place Inc., we continue to do our little best to give back to the community we love so much. But the reality is that the need around food insecurity continues to rise every day. More individuals and families are needing support, and moments like today remind us why this work matters.

Giving from the abundance we have been blessed with has a way of making every imperfection feel a little closer to perfect. It reminds us that kindness still exists, love still exists, and hope still exists.

To our amazing volunteers who showed up today, thank you. Your time, your energy, and your hearts make this possible. To everyone we had the opportunity to support today, we are grateful you came. You are the reason we continue.

As we also celebrate Memorial Day weekend, we pause to honor our fallen heroes and remember the sacrifice that allows us to gather in freedom and community. Memorial Day reminds us of courage, service, and the beauty of remembering those who gave so much for others.

“A mother’s love is often the quietest in the room, yet somehow the strongest thing holding everything together.” 💐

Yesterday reminded us that rain cannot stop love, community, and a mission with heart. ☔️

Despite the rain, WE DID IT.

It took a lot of planning, a lot of hands, a lot of support, and a whole lot of love, but in the end, we were able to celebrate the incredible mothers in our community the way they deserve to be celebrated.

And what a beautiful day it turned out to be.

From the smiles, the laughter, the hugs, the warm meals, the thoughtful gifts, grocery bags, volunteers, and every single person who showed up to support, our hearts are so full. Pictures truly cannot capture the joy and love that filled the space yesterday. Thanks to Paula Hebert for capturing the event.

More than anything, we were honored to be a small channel of hope, appreciation, and care to the mothers in our community. To every mom who joined us: thank you for allowing us to celebrate you.

We also want to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated through GiveButter, Amazon Wish List, cash donations, and all forms of support. Your generosity made this celebration possible, and words honestly cannot express how much that means to us and to the people we serve.

Mother’s Day is almost here, and we’re excited to celebrate the amazing moms and mother figures in our community!🎉

Join us as we create a special moment filled with love, joy, and appreciation, because our moms truly deserve it all.

Come celebrate with us and help us make this day unforgettable for mom💐

We have been blessed with support from amazing community friends, churches, organization, donors and volunteers to make this possible.

We will be giving out 100 grocery bags to support families. This is made possible with the help of Unity House of Troy, Inc. MVP Health Care and we thank them for their support. You don't want to miss it!
