As our community continues to remember Dolly Parton and the incredible legacy she leaves behind, many people are looking for ways to honor her locally.

The Montgomery County Partnership for Children has been the local program affiliate for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library since June 2005. To-date, 275,996 books have been mailed to local children, completely free to families, and 5,813 Montgomery County children have graduated from the program.

Over 1,100 children under age five in Montgomery County are currently receiving DPIL books in their mailboxes each month, and we are so proud to have one of the highest saturation rates in NC... Reaching close to 80% of all 0-4 year olds living in our county through this program.

For those who would like to support the program locally, donations to directly support books for children in our community can be made at https://donate.imaginationlibrary.com/?country=US&affid=NCMONTGOMERY or by using the QR code in the photo.

We’ve also received an increase in interest from families wanting to enroll. If you live in Montgomery County, NC and would like to sign your child up to receive books, but have been unable to get through online due to the high traffic the national website is currently receiving, you can call us directly at 910-576-2363 and we will be happy to take the information needed to get your child(ren) into the program.

We are honored to have been part of Dolly’s Imagination Library for 21 years and look forward to continuing her vision for children and families in our community. 🦋📚

The Troy Rotary Club joins the Montgomery County Partnership for Children (MCPC) and the world, in mourning the passing of the iconic Dolly Parton. Through her Dolly Parton's Imagination Library program more than 1,100 children under the age of five, across Montgomery County, NC receive books in the mail each month. Dolly's legacy will live on every time a child opens a book, a parent reads a story at bedtime, and every time a young mind begins to imagine what is possible. Thank you Dolly, for living out your own special version of and for inspiring us all to "Dream more, Learn more, Care more, and Be more." 🩵 🦋💛

North Carolina’s youngest children, families, and early childhood educators will benefit from a new $14.8 million investment in early childhood initiatives. The funding will expand access to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, strengthen pathways to grow the child care workforce, and increase behavioral and mental health supports for children and those who care for them. Learn how this investment will help build a stronger early childhood system for communities across the state. https://www.smartstart.org/2026-state-budget/

Your voice matters. Your story matters. Your choices matter.
Are you a Black parent or caregiver with a child (ages 0–7) in childcare?

CANDL & the National African American Child and Family Research Center invite you to be part of an important conversation about how families make decisions about childcare - what access looks like, what barriers exist, and what truly supports our children to thrive. This is more than a study. It’s an opportunity to shape the narrative and ensure our experiences are seen, heard, and valued.
