Unfortunately it appears it was placed on top of a car and may have fallen off when the car was driving away, and it has received significant damage. Every Fall, Troy Parks and Recreation offers youth tackle football for ages 12-below.
This years our numbers are good, but due to a nation-wide shortage of football helmets, we have approximately 27 young men that do not have a football helmet.
Troy Parks and Recreation has checked with local, state and national vendors, and they are all saying the same thing, that due to Covid shutdowns last year the production of football helmets is behind greatly.
Troy Parks and Recreation is asking that if you have a youth football helmet in your household that your child is no longer using and would consider donating it to our tackle football program, it would be greatly appreciated.
As it stands right now if we do not have enough football helmets by Aug. 31, then the league that we play in will have to make a schedule without our teams and our season will be cancelled.
Once again, if you have a helmet you can donate, please bring it by the Troy Recreation Center, 601 Enzor Road, Troy, before Friday, Aug. 27.
Thanking you in advance.

There has been more positive progress in the revival of a tennis association in Troy.
On Monday evening there was good attendance for something of a kickoff meeting. There were many great questions, and suggestions.
On Tuesday, we had a great conversation with Mr. Keith WIlson of USTA Alabama. He was very, very supportive of our progress and direction in revitalizing a Community Tennis Association (CTA). We will have more discussions with Mr. WIlson, and being involved in USTA is vital, and he has also offered to come to another meeting should we choose to have one.
On Wednesday, July 28, we had an outstanding meeting with Troy University women’s tennis coach Rawia Elsisi and men’s tennis coach Rolando Vargas. Both coaches were very supportive of our efforts to encourage more community tennis. We also talked about the best days and times for court usage, lessons, clinics, and much more. We are very thankful to have this resource in Troy, and I know Coach Elsisi and Coach Vargas and their assistants will be an excellent source to improve tennis on the local community level.
Some of the things discussed in the meeting included:
Troy University women’s tennis will return to practice on August 16.
The men’s program will begin practice on August 23.
Both teams will be through with practices before 5 p.m. daily. However, if you do go to practice during the morning or afternoon always remember Troy University tennis has priority, and please be respectful and allow them the courts of their choosing. Even when the men and women practice, there should always be other courts available for public practice and play.
This schedule of Troy University practices should hold true though the months of August, September, October and November.
Also, please leave the courts the way you found them. Place all trash in receptacles, and do not leave old tennis balls or anything else.
The lights go off at 10 p.m. daily and we are working on a request to have the bathrooms available until that time.
The coaches are very enthusiastic about giving individual or group lessons. If you want lessons for yourself or your child, please TEXT or leave a voice mail for the following coaches:

Rolando Vargas - 334-475-1904
Rawia Elsisi - 334-492-2357
Victor Sanakaipapi - 334-306-3677

Coach Vargas and Coach Elsisi also volunteered that they may be able to put on a clinic for free for anyone and everyone, of all ages, this Fall!

At this time it is a “Go” for anyone to practice on their own with friends and family. We are going to place this emphasis on “Free Play” before we pursue league play, whenever that may be. We hope that there will also be opportunities for our new association members to practice and scrimmage against teach other, based of course on a schedule of your choosing.
That is all for now. Please encourage anyone and everyone else you know to come join you and everyone at the courts!

The initial meeting of the Troy Parks and Recreation Tennis Association held Monday night at the Recreation Center was a great start for reintroducing tennis on the local level.
This link will take you to notes from the meeting, as well as many Frequently Asked Questions.
If you are interested in youth, adult or senior tennis, please visit the link. Two registration forms are included, one for 18-Under and another for 18-Over. There is no cost or obligation involved at this time. We are just trying to get a good number of those willing to make a commitment to show up for "Free Play" or lessons, before we jump off into leagues and matches. If you are interested, please share this link with any friends that you believe will also be interested in joining.

Troy Parks and Recreation will host an organizational meeting on Monday, July 26, 6 p.m., in an effort to form a new tennis association in Troy for youth and adults.
The meeting will take place at the Troy Recreation Center in the gymnasium.
We hope you or a family member will attend to share your support and ideas for what you want in a local tennis program.
Our goal is to have practices, leagues for youth and adults, lessons and ultimately tournaments.
Please share this post and invite a friend to this meeting. We want to get started soon, and continue to grow.

Summer time is always a great time to play tennis at the Lunsford Tennis courts on Elm Street in Troy.

Courts are always open to the public year-round, from sunup until the lights cut off automatically at approximately 10 p.m. daily.

When the Troy University tennis team begins practice in August, the men’s and women’s teams will practice in the morning and afternoon respectively, but even then there should be a few courts available to the general public.

Five of the courts are scheduled to be resurfaced this summer, while seven other courts have just been recently resurfaced.

It would be great to introduce tennis as a new sport to any young people, and it is the hope of Troy Parks and Recreation to soon offer youth and adult tennis leagues, as well as clinics, in coordination with Troy University.

Since opening in 2001, the 12 courts have been a source of pride for the three partners, being Troy University, Troy City Schools, and the City of Troy.

It is our hope that you and your family will visit the Lunsford Tennis Complex soon.

If you are interested in helping to form an adult or youth tennis league, please let us know!

Is there a special two or three month family rate this summer as there has been in summers past?
Could someone familiar with the youth swim team be able to share a little info? My grandson wants to join this year and we would like to know what to expect.
I'm new to the area and was wondering if an adult softball league is still going to be played? Also if it is who would need a player?
A month away! Underhand wiffleball tournament 4/20/19 in Centerville at Oak Grove Park. Sign your team up and come out for a good cause! https://www.facebook.com/events/797046720661167/?ti=icl
It sure was a scary afternoon on March 3 with all the storms and tornado's in our area. Every since we have moved to this area when a bad storm came up, we could count on the rec center opening it's doors so we could all find a safe place to be. Not on March 3! I called and was told a polite "NO" by the young women answering the phone at the desk. This time....we was lucky in our area. But that might not have been the case. We live in a mobile home and always felt safe the many times the center was there to offer that safety. Next time (and there will be a next time) PLEASE be our friendly comfort that offers that safety. Thanks.

Please help us spread the word about this event. Thanks!
When will volley ball start?
Have soccer games been canceled for tonight?
Any idea on when a soccer schedule will be ready? Or when the games will start?
Is there a rain delay on the games today?
